| Paraphrasing is the core of lexicography and explanatory prompt words have functions such as indicating the deep semantics of words, matching relationships, usage locations, and applicable objects and play an essential role in interpreting auxiliary terms. In recent years, the theory of lexicography has been gradually maturing, but the phenomenon of irregular use of paraphrasing prompt words in lexicography has gradually emerged, which has attracted wide attention in the academic circle.Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary(here in after referred to as Contemporary)is an exploratory learner’s dictionary edited by Mr.Zhang Zhiyi. With foreign Chinese learners as the main audience,it focuses on precise meanings and perfects meaning information. Therefore, many items set the second-order items under the first-order items to further explain the pragmatic and grammatical information, which can not be separated from the auxiliary role of paraphrase. It is worth noting that there are some cases of improper use of prompt words and the article put forward together due to the exploration of Contemporary. This paper takes Contemporary as a closed domain, takes explanatory prompt words as the research object, takes the first and second level items as the corpus extraction units and applies the analysis methods of quantitative, descriptive research and other analytical methods to select six types of explanatory prompt words:metaphor, description, reference, allegation, indication and usage for research. The article is divided into six chapters, which can also be divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction. This section first explains the reasons for the article’s topic selection and research significance, and then introduces the research results already obtained by the academic community from the aspects of explanatory prompt words and the study of learning dictionaries. The research on explanatory prompt words focuses on their definition and usage in dictionary compilation. The achievements of learner’s dictionaries focus on the general situation of academic research on Contemporary, and finally explain the research objects and methods of the article. The second part includes the contents from Chapter 1 to Chapter 6.Metaphor,description,reference,allegation,indication and usage are six types of explanatory prompts, each of which has one chapter.First of all, sort out the extracted corpus, summarize and analyze the previous research results, classify these results according to the external characteristics and functional functions of the explanatory prompt words, then classify and describe the use of various words that are prompt according to the classification results above, and finally summarize the role of prompt words in the interpretation of the dictionary. The third part summarizes the overall content of the paper, which is mainly divided into two aspects. The first is to count the number and proportion of use of the six types of explanatory prompt words extracted from Contemporary, and to make a general comparison and summary of the individual functions of the various types of prompt words. The second is to use typical terms as support to analyze the usage of the explanatory prompt words from where they are reasonable and can be adjusted, and put forward their own opinions and suggestions on the issues.Generally speaking,Contemporary is very strict in its use of explanatory prompt words and really takes into account the needs of users, but compared to the Modern Chinese Dictionary(here in after Modern)(7th edition)and the Modern Chinese Standardized Dictionary(here in after referred to as Standard),it was discovered that there were also some improper uses.I hope the suggestions put forward in this regard will contribute to the dictionary’s compilation work. |
