With the constant growth of China’s comprehensive national strength and international status,it has promoted the dramatic increase of the number of foreigners coming to China for tourism,study,and work.In addition to deepening the economic and cultural exchanges and communication between China and other countries,this also drives the expansion of the demand for foreigners to learn Chinese.In this case,the vigorous development of international Chinese language education career is at an unprecedented speed.The tourism Chinese course is included as one of the specialized courses in the international Chinese language education system,which also has strong practical and professional features in addition to the requirements of ordinary Chinese language courses.In the teaching process of closely integrating language knowledge and tourism culture,this also helps constantly enhance the language communication skills and cultural adaptability of Chinese learners.From this,the role and status of tourism Chinese in teaching Chinese as a foreign language are found to be very important.However,a question that international Chinese teachers need to deeply study is how to bring authentic cultural experience to students while explaining tourism Chinese knowledge.The Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture originating from The Ohio State University in the United States takes the form of "performing another culture" activities and aims at imparting "culture" knowledge.The language teaching and cultural teaching are effectively combined to emphasize that teachers provide the cultural atmosphere and scene for students to guide them in actual performing activities in the target cultural context,so the students can be helped to obtain authentic target cultural knowledge and corresponding language skills.Over the years,although many achievements have been made by the academic community in the research field of applying the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,there is still broader exploration space for applying this teaching method to the teaching of specialized courses such as tourism Chinese.Based on a large amount of literature review and research,the teaching concept of the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture is thought to be highly consistent with the teaching objectives of the tourism Chinese language course.In particular,it is worth trying the teaching research and practice for Chinese learners with zero foundation.In this thesis,the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture is applied to the elementary tourism Chinese language course.The feasibility and necessity of applying the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture to the elementary tourism Chinese language course are comprehensively and deeply analyzed and demonstrated in terms of its teaching concept,teaching mode,and the features of the class type of the elementary tourism Chinese language course.On this basis,the design and implementation of three primary tourism Chinese language course teaching cases are conducted by taking the learners of elementary Chinese language proficiency as the research objects and the textbook Experiencing Chinese.Travelling in China as the basis,and focusing on the six topics of "food,housing,transportation,travelling,shopping,and entertainment".In the process of teaching design and practice,the relevant operational principles of the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture are strictly followed,the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture is closely combined with elementary tourism Chinese knowledge,and the targeted teaching suggestions are proposed in line with the implementation of teaching design cases and teaching feedback,as well as the combination with what is learned in the major,so the effective methods and paths for applying the Pedagogy of Performing Another Culture to the teaching of elementary tourism Chinese course can be explored.In this way,various possibilities can be provided for further enriching of the teaching practice of tourism Chinese course,some theoretical reference and practical basis can be further provided for future tourism Chinese teaching and research. |
