| The development of information technology has promoted the updating of news communication methods.We Chat official account,as a new type of information transmission method,satisfies people’s requirements for news transmission in the mobile Internet era with the advantages of convenience,fast speed,various forms,and adaptability to fragmented reading and has become the main approach from traditional media to moving towards the new media.In addition,the change of discourse communication context inevitably involves recontextualization and transformation of meaning.Social news discourse,as the carrier of the social news dissemination,has changed in context model and discourse structure during the transformation from the context of the official website to the context of the We Chat official account.In view of this,the present study explores the recontextualization of social news discourse from the official website to the We Chat official account.For achieving the research objectives,30 social news reports(from August 3 to September 6,2021,)from China-social news module of China Daily’s official website which are corresponding to the 30 social news reports reported on We Chat official account,are randomly selected as the data to explore the recontextualization process of social news discourse in the We Chat official account from two dimensions of transformation and discourse structure.Based on the recontextualization and transformation,and combing Van Dijk’s context model theory,the analytical framework of the present study is constructed to discuss the following questions:(1)What changes have taken place in the context model and discourse structure of the social news discourse from the official website to the We Chat official account?(2)How is the social news discourse recontextualized in the context of the We Chat official account?(3)Why is the social news discourse recontextualized from the context of the official website to the We Chat official account?The following conclusions are drawn from the data analysis:Firstly,the social news discourse is recontextualized in the appropriation process from China Daily’s official website to China Daily’s We Chat official account.The context model and discourse structure of social news discourse have changed in varying degrees.Secondly,the recontextualization of social news discourse is realized by transformation.From the perspective of discourse structure,each part of the discourse in almost every news report may be transformed,mainly in the title and beginning parts.From the perspective of transformation,four types of transformations are all involved,among which the frequency of addition is the highest,followed by deletion and rearrangement,and substitution is the lowest.Moreover,the using strategy of rearrangement is single,while the other three transformations adopt a variety of using strategies.Thirdly,the combination of multiple transformations is prominent.In the process of transformation,not only a single transformation is adopted,the combination of two or three is obvious.For example,the combination of addition and substitution is common in the title.Finally,the differences in context models,especially the differences in participants and intentions and goals are the fundamental reasons for the recontextualization of social news discourse.The present study provides a new perspective for the research of the spread of social news discourse in the We Chat official account,which gives some suggestions for further studies.First,based on the knowledge of cognitive linguistics,journalism and communication,and discourse analysis,the present study establishes an analytical framework for the recontextualization of social news discourse in the We Chat official account,which enriches the linguistic research approach to news discourse.Second,the present study provides insight into the widespread and effective communication of news discourse.For instance,the production of news discourse should adapt to the target context to achieve the communicative purposes. |
