According to the latest requirements of the 2021 edition of the English Syllabus for full-time middle schools in nine-year compulsory education,the English Curriculum in the stage of compulsory education aims to stimulate and cultivate students’ interest in English learning,carry out a variety of English teaching activities,develop English curriculum resources and enrich and expand English learning channels.Blended learning is a kind of "online" + "offline" teaching that combines the advantages of online teaching and traditional teaching.In the traditional face-to-face teaching process,both teachers’ teaching and dialogue with students are in the form of "teacher-centered" and "one to many".This blended learning mode has completely changed this situation: whether students do online reading exercises at home or faceto-face interaction between teachers and students in class,they are carried out around "student-centered";Students can adjust their learning progress independently,put forward their own problems and ideas,and communicate with teachers and students anytime and anywhere,so as to obtain the initiative of learning.In order to verify the effectiveness of the blended learning method,this research applies the mixed research method and aims to answer three questions: 1.What effect does the blended learning method have on middle school students’ interest in English reading 2.What is the impact of blended learning on improving the academic performance of middle school students? 3.What is the actual attitude of middle school students towards the blended learning method? In this research,98 students in the Class 5,Class 6 of the second grade of Z Middle School in Ganzhou City,Jiangxi Province where the author was intern(50 students in the experimental class and 48 students in the control class)were participated in a one-semester Blended learning experiment.The experimental class adopts a blended learning method for teaching,while the control class adopts traditional classroom teaching.The whole experiment utilized the research methods of questionnaire,English reading pre-and post-test and interview.The results reflect that: 1.The blended learning method has little effect on improving students’ interest in English reading learning.2.Practice the English reading reasoning ability of middle school students through the blended learning method can improve the academic performance of middle school students in the reading part of the English test.3.Most middle school students hold positive attitude towards the implement of the blended learning method. |
