The research of interactive electronic whiteboard(IEW)can be found in different fields.Actually,the research of IEW in China starts a little late and tends to be theoretical.The previous studies mostly focus on the learning result and most of them are applied to the study of Chinese language teaching,while few researches have been done in the English teaching in primary schools.Therefore,with emotional elements into consideration,this paper attempts to explore how to use interactive electronic whiteboard teaching to improve pupils’ English learning interest and English learning performance,so as to enhance the teaching effect.The author,who teaches in a rural primary school in Tangshan city,divided all the twenty students of Class 1,Grade 4 into two groups to conduct an empirical study.Taught by the same teacher,both groups had 6 girls and 4 boys,who had the same family backgrounds and were at similar level of English before the experiment.The experimental group was taught with interactive electronic whiteboard,while the control group was taught with traditional chalk and blackboard.By comparing the English learning interest questionnaire data of the two groups of students before and after the experiment and their test results of the English proficiency,the author has four findings.First,the students in the experimental group showed a significant increase in their interest in learning English.Second,the students in the experimental group had a higher average English score than those in the control group after the experiment.Third,the academic performance of the middle and low-level learners in the experimental group improved significantly.Fourth,students in the experimental group were better at answering difficult English questions.The results show that the application of interactive electronic whiteboard to English teaching can significantly improve the pupils’ interest in English learning,help them understand English knowledge,reduce the difficulty of English. |
