The rapid development of modern information technology not only provides rich and high-quality online educational resources,but also provides fertile soil for the improvement of teaching models.It is gradually realized that traditional classroom teaching can no longer comply with the requirements of learners.At a same time,a new type of teaching mode—blended learning mode has gradually attracted attention in the field of elementary education.This mode is both a teaching method and a learning method.It deeply integrates traditional teaching and online teaching,which can effectively stimulate learners’ interest in learning and improve classroom efficiency.Also,this model is consistent with the direction of education progress from teacher-centered to student-centered.It not only plays the role of teacher’s instructor and supervisor,but also encourages the development of learners’ creativity and autonomous learning ability to meet the requirements of elementary education reform.This research attempts to explore the effect of blended learning mode on high school students’ learning of English reading,and explores the following three questions:Firstly,whether the BLM can improve students’ reading scores?Secondly,whether BLM can effectively stimulate students’ learning attitude and effect of reading?Thirdly,compared with the traditional teaching mode,do students prefer teachers to use BLM to teach?This research was conducted in the M Senior Middle School in Zhengzhou.It lasted 16 weeks from August 20,2020 to December 24,2020.The subjects of the study are 91 students in two parallel classes in the first grade.The third class is experimental class(EC)with 46 students in total.The first class is control class(CC)with 45 students.The research tools include SPSS23.0,pre-test and post-test,questionnaires and interviews.The results of the study show that the experimental class students who use the blended learning mode have greater enthusiasm and initiative in English reading than the control class students,and are more willing to continue to use this mode in subsequent learning,also,the students’ English reading performance has a certain improvement.Therefore,it is feasible to apply the blended learning mode to teaching of English reading.Finally,the researcher discusses the enlightenment of the research and implementation suggestions,hoping to inspire students’ learning and teachers’ teaching and future research. |
