The main purpose of the study is to develop targeted strategies and provide evidence-based management and policy recommendations for improving the professional identity of general practitioners in all regions of Guizhou Province by understanding the current situation of the professional identity of order-oriented general practitioners in rural areas of Guizhou Province and the factors affecting the professional identity. The study adopted the Delphi method to develop a questionnaire. The questionnaire was based on the basic information and Likert’s five-level scale.213 rural order-oriented general practitioners from all districts and counties in Guizhou Province trained by two residential training general practitioners bases in Guizhou Province were investigated. The average score of comprehensive professional identity of order-oriented general practitioners in rural areas of Guizhou Province was only 3.00235 points(the full score of the following values was 5 points),and the overall score was not high, close to the "average" level.According to the single factor analysis of basic information, the proportion of clinical affairs and income have an impact on professional identity;According to the linear regression analysis, the organizational support dimension, the external group dimension, and the standardized residents training in hospital dimension all have an impact on the professional identity; All dimensions and branches(post establishment support, scientific research development support, function positioning support, academic degree promotion support, public understanding and respect, family influence, technical recognition of the public, and improvement of medical skills and management level through the standardized residents training in hospital)are the influencing factors of occupational identity. The occupational identity of order-oriented general practitioners in rural areas of Guizhou Province is not high.It is suggested that the occupational identity of order-oriented general practitioners in rural areas of Guizhou Province should be improved by improving the salary and treatment of order-oriented general practitioners in different periods, strengthening the organization and post establishment, scientific research level and function awareness, strengthening the public’s propaganda and education of general practitioners, and strengthening the teaching level of skills and management during the training period,so as to improve the occupational identity of order-oriented general practitioners in rural areas of Guizhou Province,Reduce the loss of general practitioners in Guizhou Province, and stabilize the general practitioner team of basic medical care.
