ObjectiveTo investigate the safety and feasibility of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)in elderly Patients with colorectal cancer.MethodsThe data of elderly patients who underwent laparoscopic radical surgery for colorectal cancer at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, the Second People’s Hospital of Li any ungang from 01,2021 to 06,2022 were collected and a total of 80 cases were included. They were divided into 40 cases in ERAS group and 40 cases in control group according to the random number method. The general data(gender, age, tumor site,TNM staging and BMI),preoperative day 1,postoperative day 1 and 3(CRP,IL-6,PCT),nutritional indexes(PA,ALB,HGB)and immune indexes(IgG,IgM,IgA)of the two groups were compared.Recording general perioperative conditions(time to first postoperative bowel movement, time to exhaustion, operative time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative hospital stay)and postoperative related complications(anastomotic leak, pulmonary infection, incisional infection, intestinal obstruction).ResultsThe length of first postoperative exhaust, defecation and postoperative hospital stay were shorter in ERAS group than those of control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in operative time and intraoperative blood loss between the two groups(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in serum inflammatory indexes, nutritional indexes and immune indexes between 2 groups on the first day before surgery(P>0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in inflammatory, nutritional and immunological indicators in the serum of elderly patients in both groups on postoperative day 1 and 3(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in ERAS group was lower than that in control group(15%vs 35%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe application of ERAS in perioperative elderly patients with colorectal cancer is safe and feasible, which improves the recovery of gastrointestinal function, reduces inflammation stress response and the incidence of postoperative complications, and shortens the length of hospital stay.
