Clinical Observation Of Huanglian Fuling Decoction In The Treatment Of Senile Diabetes Complicated With Constipation (Damp Heat Type)

Objective: In this study,we observed the changes of TCM symptoms,constipation wexen score,PAC-QOL,FPG,2h PG and glycated albumin in elderly patients with constipation(damp heat type)treated by Huanglian Fuling decoction.It provides a new idea for clinical treatment of diabetes and constipation in elderly patients.Methods: According to the diagnostic criteria,inclusion criteria,exclusion criteria and exclusion criteria for elderly patients with diabetes and constipation,72 cases of outpatients and hospitalized patients in the geriatrics department of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated hospital were collected.72 patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,36 cases in each group.Two groups of patients received conventional hypoglycemic western medicine for basic treatment.The control group: basic treatment + mosapride citrate tablets,the treatment group: routine treatment + addition and subtraction of Huanglian Fuling decoction.The patients in both groups were observed for 4 weeks.The efficacy and safety of the two groups were evaluated before and after treatment,such as TCM symptoms,constipation wexen score,pac-qol,blood glucose control and so on.Results:(1)Before treatment,there was no significant difference between the two groups in baseline data such as age,gender,BMI,course of disease and glycosylated hemoglobin(P > 0.05).(2)The total effective rate of the treatment group was better than that of the control group(P.After treatment,the total score of TCM symptoms and the main single score of the two groups were lower than those before treatment(P < 0.05).The treatment group was better than the control group in reducing the total score of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms,dry mouth and no desire to drink,frequency of urination and heavy head and body sleepiness(P.(3)Constipation wenxen score: the constipation wenxen score of the two groups after treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment(P < 0.01),and there was no significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P > 0.05).(4)PAC-QOL: after treatment,the PAC-QOL score of the two groups decreased significantly(P < 0.01).Compared with the two groups,the pac-qol score of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.01).(5)Blood glucose control: after treatment,FPG,2h PG,glycosylated albumin in the treatment group and FPG and glycosylated albumin in the control group decreased,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01),and the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in 2h PG before and after treatment in the control group(P > 0.05).(6)Safety comparison: there was no special discomfort between the two groups before and after treatment,and the relevant safety indexes were not significantly abnormal before and after treatment.Conclusion:This study observed 72 cases of damp heat type elderly patients with diabetes complicated with constipation.The results showed that Huanglian Fuling decoction can improve the symptoms of constipation and blood glucose level at the same time,with small side effects and high safety.It has significant advantages in the treatment of diabetes complicated with constipation.
