Against the backdrop of increasing attention to the comprehensive development of society in China, the equal spatial rights of vulnerable groups are gradually being valued in urban construction. However, nowadays, urban street space construction lacks attention to vulnerable groups such as visually impaired people.Due to their own physiological conditions, the walking needs of visually impaired individuals have certain specificity, and the insufficient supply of street space elements leads to inconvenience and even difficulties for visually impaired individuals to walk. With the promotion of pedestrian friendly streets, how to build pedestrian friendly street spaces for visually impaired people has become an urgent problem to be solved. From the perspective of visually impaired people, this thesis combines qualitative research with quantitative research to evaluate the pedestrian friendliness of street space and propose optimization strategies.Firstly, conduct a survey on the walking status and street space status of visually impaired people in Handan City, select specific research streets, and analyze the existing characteristics and common problems of street space.Secondly,Grounded theory is used to screen the evaluation indicators of pedestrian friendliness in street space for visually impaired people, and analytic hierarchy process is used to determine the weight of each indicator,so as to build an evaluation system of pedestrian friendliness in street space from the perspective of visually impaired people. This includes 5 first level indicators of feasibility, continuity, directionality, safety and comfort, and 17 second level indicators.Once again, evaluate the pedestrian friendliness of the selected typical street spaces, obtain evaluation data for visually impaired individuals through an interview style questionnaire survey, and use fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method for data processing to obtain and analyze the evaluation results of each street. Finally, based on the evaluation results and the current situation of street space,a path and optimization strategy for optimizing pedestrian friendliness in street space from the perspective of visually impaired people are proposed, and the specific implementation of the optimization strategy is carried out for the studied street. The innovation of this article is divided into three aspects.Firstly,it establishes the corresponding relationship between urban street space elements and the walking needs of visually impaired people.Secondly,it constructs an evaluation system for pedestrian friendliness of street space from the perspective of visually impaired people and evaluates the selected street space.Thirdly,it proposes optimization strategies for pedestrian friendliness. This article evaluates the pedestrian friendliness of street spaces from the perspective of visually impaired individuals, and proposes optimization strategies aimed at providing visually impaired individuals with a sound pedestrian friendly street space, strengthening their urban participation, and equal access to urban public spaces. The aim is to provide reference for the pedestrian friendliness design of street spaces for visually impaired individuals.
