With the progress of society and the development of technology, people get ahigher material-standard of living,in this situation, products demands which is basedon function gradually give priority to demands based on personalization. In this trend,the19th century British " Arts and Crafts Movement" pioneer William Morris hasput forward his concept, that is " to design for the most people ". Today, in someways to achieve his goal is still a distant dream. In product design, another importantidea is "people-oriented ", it is not only considered about normal usage, but alsotakes the needs of special populations into account. As a special kind of group, thevisual-obstacle people are very unique. As we know that, visual sense is the mostimportant function of human sensory. When some function of it become lost orworse, they will get a lot of difficulties facing all aspects of basic necessities and it isvery challenging. However, today’s complex design is concerned about this specialgroup only in relatively one-side, making them difficult to integrate into the sociallife. Therefore, this thesis sets the visual-obstacle group as the research object, supported by theory of barrier-free design and general design, to find a suitabledesign concept for the majority of visual obstacle group. This thesis is given priority to theoretical research, and applied research will bethe auxiliary pole. This thesis is mainly divided into five parts: the first part is thevisual-obstacle group cohort study to clarify its definition, classification and thepresent situation, and then analyze their differences.According to the difference ofvisual disabilities, the second part introduces "no differences" into the design, whichputs forward the design theory of visual differences between disabled people.Thethird par is carried out on the theory of the argument respectively from thebarrier-free design, general design and sensory compensatory. The fourth part sumsup the principles of visual differences between disabled people design and evaluationstandards according to the actual circumstance of visual disabilities. The fifth part isthe application to the design of visual differences for visual-obstacle people. Thesecond part and the fourth part are the focus of the theoretical research. In this thesis, the purpose of study is to solve diverse needs from the angle of the humane care and resource conservation. Its deeper purpose is to attract more attentionto the designers and marketers’ demand by expanding the target audience andsimplifying the design ideas, which can solve the visual-obstacles’ problem fromvarious aspects of work and life. The theory of visual-disabled design with nodifference is proposed not only for enriching the ways to solve visual-obstacles’problem, but also for new ideas on other groups’design theory.
