| Nowadays people’s living standard is constantly improving with the development of society,people’s spiritual needs such as knowledge and information and cultural entertainment are becoming more and more significant.Due to the natural obstacles that people with disabilities have in accessing information,China has strengthened the protection of the cultural rights and interests of special groups such as the disabled year by year.The public library is an important medium for the dissemination of information and knowledge in contemporary society,and it should provides effective access to knowledge and information for all members of society.However,the handicapped and other vulnerable groups in China are still facing difficulties in the use of public libraries.The importance of the research on the accessibility design of public libraries in China has been highlighted year by year.At the present stage,the research and practice on the accessibility design of public libraries in China mainly focus on the disabled group in a broad sense,and the main population of the research is the people with physical disabilities,and there are few related design studies for the visually impaired people.Althougn the research attention of library service for the visually impaired has been greatly improved and most of the existing public libraries in China generally have reading rooms for the visually impaired,few visually impaired people go to the library.On the one hand,it is not convenient for the visually impaired to go to the library,and there are still shortcomings in urban roads and the construction of barrier-free indoor and outdoor environment of the library.On the other hand,the internal design of the reading room for the visually impaired does not meet the use needs of the visually impaired.In addition,the number of visually impaired people in China is large and has an increasing trend year by year.As for the visually impaired people,the construction of barrier-free environment of public libraries in the future will certainly face greater challenges.Therefore,the research on barrier-free design of domestic public libraries should be carried out as soon as possible.This paper investigates and evaluates the status quo of barrier-free public libraries from the perspective of visually impaired groups,and then puts forward optimization strategies.The first chapter introduces the research background,purpose and significance,analyzes the relevant basic concepts,and elaborates the research content,methods and framework.The second chapter carries on the basic literature research.This paper reviews the relevant theories of accessibility design,deeply studies the basic behaviors and basic needs of the visually impaired group,and briefly analyzes the excellent cases of accessibility design of domestic and foreign public libraries.The third chapter has chosen five more excellent domestic public libraries with the same level of Shandong province library,for example,jinling library,Nanjing library,Zhejiang library,Shanghai library,pudong library and the Nanjing barrier-free library which sets up for visually impaired groups.This paper investigates the current situation of library accessibility from four aspects of outdoor,entrance and exit,indoor and guide sign system accessibility.The fourth chapter,based on the above theoretical research and field research results,combined with relevant domestic policies,regulations and related norms,establishes the evaluation index system of public library accessibility based on the visually impaired group through qualitative and quantitative,subjective and objective methods.Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)is used to calculate the weight of the basic index,and the weighted sum of each index is used to get the final score of the evaluation result.The evaluation level is divided according to the score,and the final evaluation table of accessibility status index is formulated.Finally,the table is used to evaluate the accessibility status of the above six libraries,and the excellent accessibility practices in each index are screened and sorted out.The fifth chapter optimizes the design of barrier-free library in Shandong Province.First,the corresponding barrier-free optimization design strategy was formulated.On the one hand,five barrier-free optimization design principles including safety,practicability,universality,systematicness and economy were established.On the other hand,the basic ideas of optimization design were determined.The above evaluation index system is used to evaluate the present situation of the accessibility of libraries in Shandong Province,and corresponding optimal design schemes are provided according to the evaluation results of different levels.Finally,specific optimal design results are proposed according to the excellent practices of the present situation of the accessibility summarized above.The sixth chapter summarizes the main conclusions and final results of the paper,including the problems in the accessibility design of domestic public libraries summarized in the research process,the evaluation index system of the accessibility status of public libraries constructed based on the visually impaired group,and the relevant accessibility design results.It includes the excellent practice chart of public library accessibility design for the visually impaired group and the optimal design result chart of the present situation of library accessibility in Shandong Province. |
