| In the "14th Five-Year Plan" jointly issued by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and other thirteen departments in 2021,it was clearly pointed out that the policy and standard system of barrier-free environment construction should be improved, the standardization of barrier-free facilities should be enhanced, and the construction of sidewalks and visual barrier-free facilities such as blind alleys should be improved. In 2002,Xi’an became one of the first twelve model cities(districts)for barrier-free facilities construction in China, and after that, the construction of barrier-free facilities and the formulation of barrier-free standards were carried out,and great progress was made in barrier-free construction.Although the government departments have actively built the barrier-free basic activity protection facilities from the macro level of social development, the data summary of the actual utilization rate shows that the visually impaired group is not efficient in using the urban walking space, especially for the special needs of the visually impaired people in public space activities, and a comprehensive and systematic service protection system has not been formed. This paper takes the visually impaired people as the starting point to explore the construction of a friendly travel environment for the visually impaired people in urban pedestrian space, hoping to improve the current situation that the visually impaired people have difficulties in traveling, further improve the comprehensiveness and inclusiveness of urban barrier-free environment construction, and reflect the social care of urban construction for the visually impaired people. The paper firstly investigates the urban pedestrian space in Xi’an,and summarizes the problems of uneven distribution of visual accessibility facilities in existing urban pedestrian space, large regional differences, prominent problems of road occupation, insufficient safety guarantee, old service facilities, inefficient use, lack of signage system and insufficient guidance information,At the end of the article, the design practice is combined with the actual site, and the special design analysis is carried out for the pedestrian area, pedestrian crossing, public transportation stations and important parking nodes in the five intersections area of Ming District,Xi’an,which provides some reference value for the construction of urban visual accessibility.Along with the increasing demand of residents’ quality of life under the high-quality development of urban construction, the development of socialist society and the harmonious society have put forward higher requirements for the inclusiveness of urban barrier-free facilities. As a part of the social group that cannot be ignored, the concern for their travel needs and travel environment has been rising in recent years. In the future, with the accelerating aging of the population and the Internet era,the damage to the eyes caused by electronic screens such as cell phones and computers will also accelerate the decline of human eye function, therefore, the construction of a more humanistic and visually friendly urban pedestrian space is a social demand and the focus of urban barrier-free environment development and construction. |
