Research On The Design Of Bionic-shaped Powder Boxes In The Tang And Song Dynasties

Powder boxes are part of ancient artifact designs that have a high artistic and practical value,demonstrating the subtlety and wisdom of the ancients in making things.Among them,the nature-inspired bionic-shaped powder boxes have endured throughout history for their dexterous shapes and auspicious symbolism.The Tang and Song dynasties were a period of development and prosperity for bionic-shaped powder boxes.With the influence of makeup culture,production technology,and aesthetic orientation,the shape,material,and ornamentation of bionic-shaped powder boxes took on different aspects,showing the aesthetic interest and cultural connotation of the corresponding era.The subject of this study is a powder box in archaeological documents,museum collections,and books in collections that present a bionic form in whole or in part,and is studied by combining design and archaeology in a multidisciplinary way: I.Explain the background of the subject,the object of the study,the current status of the study,and the purpose and significance of the study.II.Research and analysis of the background,development history,multifaceted functions,and bionic themes of bionic-shaped powder boxes.Starting from the bionic forms of powder boxes,we classify and establish the genealogy according to the overall and partial bionic forms,explore the ingenuity of their bionic configurations,and sort out and summarize the design features of the decorative patterns.The two common materials of gold,silver and ceramics,as well as other rare materials such as talc and lacquer,are selected for presentation and analysis of the corresponding techniques.V.Summarize the design ideas of "making a vessel with an image" and "the beauty of harmony" embodied in the bionic-shaped powder box,and analyze its inspiration to modern design.Design practice based on the research,summary and inspiration of the first phase of the bionic-shaped powder box.The study of bionic-shaped powder boxes in the Tang and Song dynasties will not only help to explore and inherit the deep and unique design ideas of traditional creations,but also provide some inspiration for modern cosmetics to continue the traditional design.
