The Architecture Research Of ANYUE Grottoes In TANG And SONG Dynasties

Compared with the most famous grotto arts in China, most grottoes in BASHUarea are mostly unknown except DAZU grottoes. In recent decades, some scholars haveset their sights on the grottoes in BASHU area, and have made some academicachievements in different subject areas. But for the research of ANYUE grottoes whichare very near from DAZU grottoes, the research is just about the art statues, and thearchitecture researches are very rare. As for the one of the three Buddhist architecturetypes, the grotto research is not very enough. This article is trying to systematicallyanalyze and summarize some grottoes of ANYUE grottoes from historical angle ofarchitecture.ANYUE grottoes are not far away from DAZU grottoes. But compared withDAZU grottoes, the distribution of ANYUE grottoes is very scare in ANYUE county,and the preservation is not as well as DAZU grottoes on the whole for several reasons,but it has many excavated niches and carved statuses. As for a county, the grottoesnumber maybe the biggest in SICHUAN province. And among these ANYUE grottoes,there are also some amazing beautifully carved and fully preserved grottoes. This articleincludes three parts after investigation and data collection:ANYUE grottoes originated in the Northern and Southern Dynasties from thehistorical time sequence analysis, developed in TANG Dynasty, transited from FIVEDynasty, thrived in SONG Dynasty,and declined in the early YUAN dynasty. Thereason why ANYUE grottoes could be developed will be analyzed from social andcultural perspective, and the era characteristics of main parts of the architectureconstruction from three different dynasties.The distribution of ANYUE Buddhist grottoes in the Tang and Song Dynasty,Grottoes architectural forms and details of architecture decorations will be preliminaryestimated and analyzed. The development of the grottoes architectural forms afterimporting from India will be briefly described, the geological and traffic conditions inANYUE will be analyzed, and the geographic factors of the development of ANYUEgrottoes will be deduced.Buddhist culture characteristics of ANYUE grottoes willanalyzed according to several examplesAnalyze the the architectural images of the sculptures of grottoes in each periodfrom actual examples. The architectural images of other grotto caves will be classified. The Intuitive architectural images reflected from grotto caved will verify thearchitectural characteristics in TANG and SONG Dynasties.
