An Empirical Study On The High-quality Development Of Construction Industry Empowered By Digital Economy

China’s construction sector still faces difficulties,such as the use of extensive building techniques,environmental contamination,and squandering of resources and energy.To progress from traditional to superior development,the construction industry must be altered.The digital economy,as a novel economic form and driving force,has brought life and optimism to all aspects of existence,and its union with the construction sector has also intensified,providing a powerful impetus for the growth of the construction sector.Exploring the digital economy’s capacity to foster the construction industry’s high-grade growth,this paper employs the six provinces of East China as its research object,combining theoretical analysis,index measurement,empirical test,and path research.A comprehensive overview of the digital economy’s influence on the construction industry’s quality growth both domestically and internationally is provided in the paper.It further outlines the essential core ideas,examines the potential enabling effects of the digital economy,and proposes four enabling path assumptions.Employing entropy to assess and appraise the advanced digital economy and construction industry of the six East Chinese provinces,the OLS regression model and intermediary effect analysis technique are employed to carry out empirical tests.The construction industry’s and digital economy’s development levels in the six provinces of East China have been steadily increasing from 2011 to 2020,though regional variations exist.The digital economy’s growth has had a noteworthy,beneficial effect on the construction industry’s superior development,as demonstrated by research results.The construction industry’s high-quality development is impacted by the digital economy as an intermediary.The digital economy’s realization of the construction industry’s high-quality development is enabled by augmenting its innovation capacity,which is further augmented by the intermediary effects of human capital,enterprise production costs,and other elements.The paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions to bolster the construction industry’s high-caliber growth in the digital economy,including transforming human resources to digital capabilities,and cutting production costs.The construction industry’s enabling mechanism is deeply explored in this study,combining economic theory with the digital economy to enrich the research of both the enabling and high-quality development theories.Furthermore,the proposal of policies and measures to foster the construction industry’s high-quality development has practical relevance.
