Research On The Practice Of Object Media Design In Social Activities Of The Elderly Under The Concept Of Social Participation

With the deepening of China’s aging process,the need for social participation of the elderly in social activities continues,and the urgency of social participation of the elderly gradually comes to the fore.However,the degree of social participation of the elderly is not high nowadays,and the elderly are not very active in participating in social activities.How to provide the elderly with richer social activities,so as to promote the social participation of the elderly group,has become a top priority in dealing with the aging problem.Based on this background,this study focuses on the object media in social activities for the elderly,and conducts research on the design of the object media to enhance the attractiveness of social activities for the elderly and promote the social participation of the elderly through the design of the object media.This study takes social participation as the theoretical guide,takes the patchwork bag as the design carrier,collates the relationship between social participation,social activities of the elderly and the object medium,combines the research on the physiological,psychological and activity needs of the elderly,and comes up with four design strategies for the patchwork bag in comparison with the process of social activities of the elderly.Combined with the author extracted five design elements of the patchwork bag,which are structure and patchwork in patchwork design,color,material and form in bag design,and then combined with the design method of the patchwork bag to start the design practice of the patchwork bag.The practical part of this study mainly consists of two parts: the experiment of assembling design and the practice of bag design.In the experimental part of the assembly design,the assembly structure is firstly introduced and feasible assembly materials are selected through the experimental part,then the strength and feasibility of the assembly structure is verified,the design iteration of the assembly structure is carried out according to the experimental results and analysis,and finally the assembly structure applied in the design practice is derived;in the bag design practice,firstly,the population research is carried out for the aging users,the design objectives are clarified,and the design practice output is derived through conceptual design,physical At the end of the practice,we proposed the activity verification method and evaluation system,and verified the patchwork bag practice by participating in 708090 age-friendly design exhibition and organizing social activities for the elderly respectively.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The four design strategies proposed for the object medium-simplicity design strategy,guidance design strategy,playability design strategy,and communication design strategy-have a positive impact on promoting the participation of the elderly in social activities.(2)The design of the author’s design iteration of the collage structure is feasible in the elderly population.And the assembled bags designed on this basis all received positive feedback in the activities.(3)The object medium can promote social activities of the elderly and thus lead them to play an active role in social participation.
