| Under the influence of various factors such as healthcare policy reform, changing health concepts among the public, and the continuous updating of modern medical equipment and technology, hospital building layouts and forms are constantly being upgraded in China. With the development of medical facilities, the hospital industry has entered a stage of "incremental development driven by stock." Therefore, the renovation and expansion of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities have become a new direction for hospital development. However, due to the constraints of the founding period and early design concepts, the overall design and planning of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and mediumsized cities have not been systematically carried out.During the construction process, many problems arose, such as functional layout, traffic organization, and landscape space not matching the development of the times and their own needs. Therefore, theoretical and practical explorations have been conducted to address the corresponding issues that arise during the updating process of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities.Firstly,a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the evolutionary process of existing comprehensive hospitals in China’s development, clarifying its influencing factors to lay a theoretical foundation for further improving the high-quality development of comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities on the basis of the original construction scale in the subsequent research.Secondly, combined with the actual situation of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities,a systematic study of the renovation and expansion of existing comprehensive hospitals was conducted in terms of functional layout, traffic organization, landscape environment, and architectural image. The research results were analyzed in-depth to determine the renovation and expansion objectives of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities, and to provide factual evidence for the design strategy of the renovation and expansion of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities that follow.Furthermore,a basic study of the renovation and expansion of comprehensive hospitals was conducted, clarifying its functional composition, renovation and expansion model, layout form, and its feasibility.Based on the analysis and summary of some domestic and foreign comprehensive hospital renovation and expansion projects, the design principles of renovation and expansion of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities were proposed. In addition, based on the previous basic research,as well as the development needs of society and hospitals in the current era, design strategies for the renovation and expansion of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities were systematically proposed in terms of functional layout, traffic organization, landscape environment, and architectural image.Next, the design strategy was partially verified for its applicability and feasibility using Jingzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital as a case study. Finally, the research was summarized and sorted out,and the theoretical and practical directions for further research were prospected, hoping to provide references for the upgrading and updating of existing comprehensive hospitals in small and medium-sized cities in China in the future. |
