| Along with the advancing of urbanization, the migration of rural residents becomesincreasingly frequent. Coupled with the continuous family planning policy, ruralresidents at the school age are substantially decreasing in number after entering the newcentury, and primary and middle schools in the countryside is facing the shortage ofstudent resources. At present, rural areas in Shaanxi province are facing severeinsufficient enrollment, limited educational resources and poor educational quality. Inorder to effectively address the above problems, Shaanxi has carried out layoutrestructuring for primary and middle schools in rural areas. Meanwhile, the Governmenthas issued a range of scientific and prudent policies to ensure the effectiveimplementation of layout restructuring for primary and middle schools in rural areas ofShaanxi province.The layout adjustment has continued for a long time with its focus on “mergingscattered schoolsâ€. The focus of the next phase should be transferred to the subsequentschool constructions, including choosing new sites, remodeling old buildings,expanding original ones and so on, in order to further develop the layout restructuring ofschools in rural areas. Against the background that the state vigorously build andremodel school buildings in rural areas, researches on the restructuring of schoolbuildings in rural areas of Shaanxi province with the purpose of saving resources is ofgreat importance to enhance educational quality in rural areas, realize balancededucational development both in urban and rural areas and frame a resource-conservingsociety.This paper focuses its researches on school building remolding in rural areas of Shaanxi province. First, it introduces the development of fundamental education in ruralareas of China, elaborates core issues in face of the development of school buildingremolding against the background of overall planning between urban and rural areas,and thereby points out the necessity of studying school building remolding in rural areas.Second, it carried out investigation on basic education in rural areas of Shaanxi and thedevelopment of school buildings. It tried to know the current school conditions in ruralareas and to understand the requirements of teachers and students to teaching space andliving spaces at schools. Through crosswise comparison with urban schools in theprovince and relevant standards, the paper summarized the problems in the architecturalspaces of school buildings in rural areas. Third, this paper focuses on different types ofschools in rural areas after the layout adjustment and the identification of originalfunctions, studied the development trend of the buildings and proposed suggestedremolding patterns for subsequent construction of schools in rural areas. Beyond that,this paper also pointed out appropriate various remolding patterns for school buildingsbased on existing problems after the layout adjustment and re-use of space after theutilization transformation of school buildings. At last, this paper summed up steps forspatial transformation of schools in rural areas of Shaanxi province and suggesteddesigns for remolding based on several project cases. This paper is to provide referencefor the remolding designs of schools in rural areas of Shaanxi province, even in theNorthwest as a whole. |
