In the context of economic growth and technological advancements, the chemical export industry in China has experienced steady expansion, fostering the thriving warehousing and logistics sectors around ports. However, due to intensifying competition, warehousing businesses must urgently enhance transportation efficiency, minimize resource wastage, and reduce operational costs. The value chain theory, which focuses on the overall value within various segments of an enterprise, aims to boost company profits.Although it has been widely applied in numerous domains, research on warehousing business process optimization remains limited.XC Company,a specialist in hazardous chemical storage and transportation, encounters challenges within its management system and operational processes. To adapt to market needs,XC Company must develop a new business process framework. This study, anchored in value chain theory and employing field research and questionnaire surveys, delves into the optimization of XC Company’s warehousing business processes.Initially, the research context, methodologies, and existing research outcomes are presented, along with an in-depth elaboration of the value chain theory.Subsequently,XC Company’s current situation is assessed, and value stream mapping tools are utilized to provide an extensive interpretation of the existing warehousing business process.By constructing a value stream map,the issues are identified.During the field investigation and analysis phase, questionnaires are administered to gather information on XC Company’s warehousing operations and scrutinize the roots of the issues. After summarizing and analyzing the problems, value chain theory is employed to compress non-value-adding segments and expand value-adding segments, resulting in a new value stream map.The optimized business process is anticipated to significantly enhance XC Company’s operational efficiency, fostering sustainable development.Applying value chain theory to optimize XC Company’s warehousing business processes is expected to improve the company’s operational efficiency, economic benefits, and safety of operations, while also promoting the development of local portrelated industries. As research on value chain theory deepens within the warehousing business process optimization field,it will provide innovative optimization solutions for more enterprises, contributing to the industry’s progress. |
