Currently,China has made large-scale sustainable investments in infrastructure construction,with significant improvements in construction capacity and technology.However,traditional project management methods are still being used in areas such as highways and railways,resulting in obvious deficiencies in quality,safety,cost,schedule,and information management,which have a great impact on project profits and operations.Therefore,these problems need to be addressed as soon as possible.This article mainly introduces the application status and research focus of Building Information Modeling(BIM)technology in the field of highway engineering.BIM technology,which is based on a three-dimensional computer information model,can provide information management technology for engineering projects throughout their lifecycle.In the field of construction engineering,the informationization concept of BIM technology has been widely accepted and has been applied in different stages of highway construction projects.Currently,BIM technology is mainly applied in the design and construction phases of highways.Therefore,how to fully utilize BIM technology during the construction period of highways and improve the information management level during the construction phase has become a key research area in the field of highway engineering.The main research contents include:(1)In response to the problem of inconsistent information carriers in models such as bridges and tunnels during the construction period,a BIM model component standard specification based on EBS is proposed.A unified coding system based on the BIM model is used to conduct integrated research and application of measurement and quality management data during the construction phase on the BIM model,to achieve standardized management data for highway engineering projects.(2)Using Revit+Dynamo technology,bridges,tunnels and other models are split and component binding attribute information is realized based on the BIM model.(3)Using the standardized coding system for highway engineering sub-units,a demonstration of the integrated application of project management data and BIM models is carried out during the construction phase,to achieve the "digital twin" of highway engineering digital construction with BIM+GIS.Practice has shown that during the construction period of the Xiyu Expressway,through the use of technologies such as the Internet,big data,BIM+GIS,and so on,the refinement,standardization and informationization of construction processes have been fully implemented,improving the quality and efficiency of investment,design and construction,and reducing costs wasted during each stage.This has helped the Xiyu Expressway Company to enhance their scientific decision-making ability and project management level.
