Research Of BIM Component Library Based On IFC Standard

The goal of Building Information Modeling is to achieve collaboration in the building lifecycle,the core is to share and exchange information,and the basis is data standards.BIM technology has become one of the most popular fields in AEC industry.However,because of tight duration of construction project,heavy workload of modeling and little of reusable resources,the modeling used BIM technology is still a bottleneck which restricts the development of the application of BIM technology.Therefore,it is inevitable to integrate BIM resources from the project,enterprise and social for forming a reusable BIM component library in AEC industry.Firstly,this paper reviews the BIM technology and points out its development and the issues.Then a solution to forming an IFC-based component library is put forward.The examination of importing and exporting a large number of IFC documents has been executed by mainstream BIM software,such as Revit,Tekla,Archicad,TeklaBIMsight and Solibri.Based on thoroughly studying IFC standard including the IFC expression about geometrical and non-geometrical information,this paper solves several key technologies in the establishment of the BIM component Library: the management system for BIM components;the method for modeling,adding,refreshing and maintaining BIM components.Then the IFC-based component library is integrated within NMBIM platform which is developed by BIM Research Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Finally the basic functions of BIM-based component library are realized and an example of the framework struct.modeled by the library in this paper verifies the feasibility of this solution.
