Research On The Influence Of Wright’s Organic Architecture Thought On Contemporary Residential Space Design

As a pioneer in American modern architecture,Wright laid the foundation for the development of modern architecture.The idea of organic architecture ran through his career and he designed many wonderful architectural works.Based on the organic architecture thought of Wright and the excellent academic research results at home and abroad,this paper aims to sort out the key points of Wright’s organic architecture design and provide a new direction for the current residential space design and creation direction.With the development of science and technology,the way people live will continue to change.Contemporary residential space has entered a new stage,housing from subsistence type to small comfort type,from quantity type to quality type.Wright’s idea of organic architecture adheres to the design concept of "nature" as the teacher,and satisfies contemporary people’s yearning complex for natural residential space.This paper uses literature research method and case analysis method to study the current residential space design,so as to achieve the purpose of integrating Wright’s organic architecture thought into the residential space.This paper describes the influence of Wright’s organic architecture thought on contemporary residential space design in six parts.In the first part,from the research background,purpose,significance,domestic and foreign research status and research innovation points,the feasibility of integrating Wright’s organic architecture thought into contemporary residential space design and the past background are analyzed.The second part elaborates on the interpretation of Wright’s organic architecture thought and its influence on later architects.The third part explores the causes of Wright’s organic architectural thought from three aspects: family concept,architectural footprint and resonance with Taoist thought.The fourth part mainly analyzes the concrete residential space design practice under Wright’s organic architecture thought from four aspects: prairie house,cell grid system,material nature analysis and expression of space artistic conception.The fifth part summarizes four aspects: environment and symbiosis,space and order,materials and decoration,structure and form,and summarizes the application method of Wright’s organic architecture thought in contemporary residential space design.The sixth part is divided into the design practice of the project.According to the specific project implementation,the organic architecture thought strategy is applied to the contemporary residential space design,and the application strategy is further designed.At the end of the article,the enlightenment and extension of Wright’s organic architecture thought to the contemporary residential space design are expounded.To sum up,this paper makes a deeper analysis of the relationship among human,residence and natural environment in Wright’s organic architecture thought.Under the background of rural revitalization,Wright’s thought of organic architecture can provide a new way of thinking of residential space design for rural construction.The design of rural residential space should be combined with the local geographical environment,cultural customs,building materials,etc.,to provide comfortable residential space for residents.It continues the original idea of organic architecture and adds rational thinking to it.The transformation of Wright’s organic architectural thought into local organic architectural thought helps to shape contemporary residential space design and lifestyle,and to maintain local identity while continuing its own local social culture.
