Frank Lloyd Wright (1867~1959), the most outstanding American architect in the 20th century. He excels both in the amount and in the quality of design works he produced and the rich theoretical output he left for us on his vocation career as long as seventies. He released 'The Prairie House' and The Theory of 'Organic Architecture' at the very beginning of the 20th century. This thesis aims to discuss the background of Wright's early vocation career, his thought and it's historical sources, design works and it's theory, then give my conclusion: Though his early style of 'The Prairie House' nourished by various sources, they contained some common elements in nature. Wright was indeed greatly inspired by Japanese traditional culture in high level, he acknowledged the Japanese culture not only as an inspirational tool but also as a tool of confirmation of his organic ideal. This thesis will try to make it clear which specific part of his early works has an inspiration from Japanese culture by means of giving the comparison and analysis about them.
