Since the reform and opening-up policy,especially in the 21 st century,China’s economy has developed rapidly,and all industries are thriving.As one of the pillar industries in China,the construction industry has developed rapidly.China has been referred to as "the infrastructure maniac" by countries around the world.Whether it is in construction technology or construction equipment,China can be regarded as world-class.With the gradual saturation of the construction market,coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic and domestic and international instability,Chinese construction companies are facing unprecedented challenges.How to adapt to the requirements of the times,accelerate the reform of the company’s management system,reduce costs and increase efficiency are the problems faced by most domestic construction companies.Cost control has also become an important part of project management for construction companies.Only by strengthening refined management and paying attention to cost control can companies improve their profitability,enhance their competitiveness,and stand out in the fierce competitive environment.This paper introduces the use of earned value method to explore the control of construction costs for construction companies.By combing through the theoretical principles of earned value method and analyzing the management status of the C residential project of L Company,the problems it faces are analyzed.The earned value method is used to quantify the cost management problems of the C residential project and analyze the reasons for the problems.At the same time,the existing cost management system of L Company is optimized,and the progress and cost of the project are dynamically tracked and controlled during the construction process.Once there is a deviation,corresponding corrective measures are taken to solve the problem,ensuring the effectiveness of earned value method in controlling the C residential project.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The earned value method can effectively solve the cost control problem of the C residential project of L Company.By using the earned value method to quantify the project cost and progress problems,the dynamic and coordinated control of the project’s progress and cost is realized,thereby optimizing the construction project’s cost and improving the company’s profitability and risk resistance,and enhancing the company’s market competitiveness.(2)The earned value method can achieve the goal of perfect project performance.By discovering the problems in the project management process and formulating corresponding measures,the perfect project performance can be achieved.(3)The earned value method can enhance the coordination and linkage ability of project departments.Timely sharing of real project data can effectively improve the level and efficiency of project management,fully mobilize the enthusiasm of project personnel management,and enable construction companies to accumulate experience in cost control,strengthen their yield,and enhance their market competitiveness.
