Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development On Employment Skill Structure

After entering the 21st century,the fourth technological revolution marked by the digital technologies such as artificial intelligence,big data and cloud computing is rising rapidly,and mankind is entering the era of digital economy.The wide application of digital technology in production and life will inevitably lead to the transformation of mode of production and industrial system,which will put forward higher requirements on the skill level of workers,and then affect the employment skill structure of our country.Based on this background,this paper analyzes and tests the mechanism of the effect of the digital economy on the employment skill structure.In order to promote the optimization and upgrading of the employment skill structure,this paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions,Firstly,this paper discusses the mechanism of digital economy influencing employment skill structure from three perspectives: skill-biased technological change,industrial structure upgrading and regional development heterogeneity;Secondly,this paper selects ten indicators that can reflect the development level of the digital economy to construct the index system of China’s digital economy development level,and uses the entropy weight method to measure the development level of digital economy in 30 provinces;Finally,this paper uses China’s provincial panel data from 2012 to 2019 to empirically analyze the impact of the digital economy on the employment skill structure.By using the fixed-effect model,it is concluded that the development of digital economy will increase the relative demand of high-skilled labor force and help to promote the upgrading of the employment skill structure;When examining the regional heterogeneity of the employment skill structure,the sample is divided into eight economic regions,and the conclusion is drawn that the influence of digital economy on the employment skill structure is different in different regions,in particular,the development of the digital economy in the eastern and northern coastal areas has a significant and positive impact on the skill structure;Further examination of the intermediary effect shows that in the process of the digital economy affecting the employment skill structure,the intermediary effect of industrial structure upgrading exists,that is,the digital economy will promote the industrial structure upgrading,thus affecting the employment structure.Based on the above discussion,this paper puts forward policy recommendations from three aspects to deal with the impact of the digital economy.First,the government should continue to improve the talent training system and strengthen vocational skills training to improve the quality of labor supply.Second,the government should continue to improve the social security system and the security system for new forms of employment to provide more protection for the unemployed and the employed.Finally,our country should continue to develop the digital economy in order to better play the role of the digital economy in absorbing employment.
