Research On The Renewal Design Of Community Public Space In Towns Based On "RSVP" Cycle System

Community public space is an important place for residents’ daily activities,rest and interaction,and is also the basic outdoor space unit to meet the "people’s growing needs for a better life".At present,compared with urban and rural communities,the research on community public space in towns is relatively weak,especially the lack of public participation in design and transformation,which leads to the focus on external forms while ignoring the actual needs of residents in its renewal design,and the problems such as lack of functions,loss of characteristics and low quality are highlighted.Therefore,exploring the design strategy and optimization plan for the renewal and optimization of public space in town communities with the participation of residents can provide a scientific basis for the humanized design of public spaces in town communities,and is of great significance for building a livable living environment and establishing a town community system with Chinese characteristics.In this study,Erlang Community,Shihe Town,Dazhu County,Dazhou City was selected as the case area,and Lawrence Harprin’s "RSVP" recycling system was introduced to establish a research framework for public participation in community renewal design of resources(R)-scores(S)-evaluation(V)-performance(P).Firstly,the environmental conditions of community public space are analyzed by means of low altitude UAV remote sensing,on-site observation and mapping to sort out the main problems in community public space;Secondly,we comprehensively use behavioral trajectory observation,semi-structured interview and questionnaire survey to record the public demand of community public space,and get the three types of public space that the public pays most attention to and the main landscape elements that affect their demand;Then,with the help of VR immersion experiment,it analyzes the correlation between public landscape preference and activity preference,and explores the appropriate landscape element combination mode in cultural entertainment space,children’s activity space,and physical exercise space;Finally,the paper puts forward the optimization strategy of public space renewal in town communities,and takes Erlang Community as an example to carry out the practical application of public space renewal design.Key findings from this paper include:(1)Due to the lack of basic public space in the community,residents’ outdoor activities are limited,and they need to increase three types of public space,namely,cultural and entertainment space,children’s activity space,and physical exercise space,to meet the needs of daily activities;(2)From the perspective of material demand,residents have a greater demand for recreational facilities and environmental greening in space,which are the main spatial factors affecting residents’ satisfaction;From the perspective of activity demand,residents have a greater demand for cultural and entertainment activities and interpersonal activities,which are the factors affecting residents’ satisfaction with outdoor activities;(3)From the perspective of preference,residents generally prefer the combination mode with higher plant richness,and have different preference types for recreation facilities in different spaces.Cultural and entertainment spaces prefer basic recreation facilities,while children’s activity spaces and physical exercise spaces prefer auxiliary recreation facilities;(4)Based on the environmental characteristics,solve the problems of community space shortage,single activity type and low space quality from the aspects of site space,activity support and site construction;Specifically,it includes strengthening the connectivity of the site,increasing the activity space on the traffic flow line and ensuring the mobility of the public space to improve the support of the community public space;The support of space activities can be improved by increasing the recreational facilities,increasing the types of activity facilities and optimizing the layout of facilities;Improve the quality of public space by improving plant richness,pavement flatness and lighting intensity.The results of this paper provide a theoretical benchmark and technical reference for landscape architects to optimize the outdoor public space of town communities,so that they can create a more comfortable and healthy living environment for residents of town communities to live.
