The learning paradigm has undergone a dramatic shift in the last two decades,mainly in the development of learning theories,the application of educational technologies,and the personality characteristics of new types of learners.The learning space has become an important factor in student’s learning.The space design focuses on the "student-centered" learning paradigm,emphasizing project-based learning,research-based learning,etc.,so that students can master the innovative and critical thinking skills required of 21 st century talents.Therefore,the change of learning space in universities to promote students’ learning effectiveness has become an important issue in the field of education.In this paper,we focus on the international cutting-edge research in the last decade on the adaptation of university learning spaces to the new learning needs of students and the promotion of their learning effectiveness in the context of the new era.Firstly,we use Citespace to quantitatively analyze the literature and sort out the hot spots and developmental trends of the international research on learning spaces in colleges and universities in the past ten years.Secondly,we categorize and summarize the research methods and space design strategies for assessing students’ learning goals,learning styles,learning needs,and learning effectiveness in university learning,and combine them with evidence-based Meta-analysis to conduct statistical analysis.Thirdly,we focus on the analysis of important space types,categorize and summarize the design goals and strategies of key learning spaces in colleges and universities,thus providing theoretical basis and reference for the current planning and design practice of learning spaces in domestic colleges and universities.The innovation of this paper is that,first of all,there are a large number of cases of learning space design around the world,but often the design is first,but main focuses are mainly on design instead of research.And the real effect of space on students’ learning effectiveness is still to be verified.We summarize the relevant research results in SCI literature in the past decade,on the information of research methods,mediating variables and outcome indicators in academia.Secondly,the core SCI journal literature in related fields is summarized and interpreted with the assistance of Citespace.The Meta-analysis of evidence-based research utilizes the statistical analysis software Stata to quantify random effects data and single-group rate data,which is an effective summary of previous studies,with a view to providing reference for the design of learning space practices in universities in the future.
