Chinese high-speed railway industry has gradually slowed down in recent years.And the competition has become fierce increasingly.Coupled with the impact of COVID-19,the cost of raw material procurement continues to rise as well as transportation costs and delivery time have increased significantly which have caused supply chain to face huge challenges.Some companies seek more opportunities through business expansion.In such a harsh market environment,companies need to control the quality of suppliers from the source.How to select and manage suppliers by constructing a scientific supplier selection and evaluation system to improve competitiveness of supply chain has become an important issue for the development of manufacturing companies.Based on summarizing the existing domestic and foreign research methods of supplier selection and evaluation as well as process improvement,this thesis takes company M as the research object,combining with company M’s raw material supplier management status,and lists out a range of issues,such as obsessing over price when selecting suppliers,over-relying on the resources of foreign suppliers from the headquarters,supplier selection by single department and long time-consuming on supplier selection process.Then,referring to the process optimization theory and supplier evaluation model,it proposes solutions from two aspects: setting up a scientific supplier evaluation system and optimizing the supplier selection process.The methods of questionnaire survey,analytic hierarchy process and linear weight are used to construct a supplier evaluation system for M company,which includes 4 first-level evaluation criteria and16 second-level evaluation criteria.The American society of mechanical engineers process optimization methods(ASME)is used to analyze the existing supplier selection process and sort out the contribution value of each activity in the whole process.The process optimization direction of M company is accurately positioned.Then optimize the process and integrate the newly constructed supplier evaluation system into the new process.The ASME analysis method is used again to analyze and evaluate the optimized process.Finally,advising 4 supporting measures to ensure the optimization plan can be implemented smoothly.After the implementation of the improvement plan,company M’s supplier selection timeliness has decreased by 58.7%,on time delivery rate increased 12.6%,and both raw material procurement costs and quality management costs have been reduced.In addition,some indirect benefits have been achieved,such as improved supplier relations and a good change in purchasing concepts.The successful implementation of the analysis and optimization methods of company M can provide a reference for the same type of manufacturing enterprises.
