Research On Hydropower Personnel Training In Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute In The Era Of Reform And Opening Up(1978-1996)

In March 1978,the National Science Conference was solemnly held in Beijing,and China’s science and technology education sector ushered in the "scientific spring".In December,the Third Plenary Session of the 11 th CPC Central Committee was held,and China has since entered a new historical period of reform,opening up and socialist modernization.Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College came into being in this historical turning period,and set a "Ge Shui speed" of "approval,preparation,enrollment,and opening".From its establishment in 1978 to its merger with Wuhan Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power in 1996,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College has been developing hydropower discipline and cultivating hydropower talents in the course of 18 years,guided by the lines,guidelines and policies of the Party and the state,taking the needs of the state and society as its own responsibility,and relying on engineering to run a university.From 1978 to 1985,Gezhouba hydropower personnel training of the initial exploratory period.Facing the urgent demand for hydropower talents in the face of reform and opening up and accelerating socialist modernization,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute has established the hydropower talent training goals of "more talents,fast talents" and "training senior engineering and technical talents engaged in hydropower construction with red and professional moral,intellectual and physical development".Relying on the "surrogate control" of the 330 Engineering Bureau,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute implements base school running,invests a lot of resources to train teachers to improve the quality of education and teaching,and promotes teachers to devote themselves to scientific research;Established the professional structure layout of 4 undergraduate majors and 2 junior majors;Try out the policy of "orientation enrollment" to realize the organic combination of enrollment and graduation distribution;Increase the proportion of practical teaching in engineering bases,adopt the mode of running schools in bases,and run practical teaching links through the whole process of student training,so as to enhance students’ practical operation ability.From 1986 to 1996,it was a stage of steady expansion of hydropower personnel training in Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute.In response to the new requirements of hydropower personnel training put forward by China’s socialist modernization construction entering a new stage,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College ended the "representative control" and officially implemented the dual leadership system of the Ministry of Water Resources and Power and Hubei Province,with the ministry as the main leadership.At the same time,the college established a new goal of hydropower personnel training of "training qualified talents for modernization construction".On the basis of the great improvement of teachers’ teaching and research ability,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute has explored the model of integrating production,learning and research.In accordance with the idea of "enrollment by department,later diversion,and training according to demand",the college actively reformed the subject setting,optimized the professional structure,and added majors year by year,forming a professional structure layout of 4 departments,9 undergraduate majors and 5 junior majors.At the same time,multiple measures were taken to pay close attention to the teaching quality,establish a teaching project system,and increase professional characteristics to improve the teaching level.Compared with other well-established hydropower colleges and universities with a long history and strong strength in China,Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College is deeply restricted by geographical conditions,funds,infrastructure,experimental equipment,modern equipment,teachers and management experience,but it still overcame many difficulties and built a relatively complete hydropower discipline from scratch and trained a large number of outstanding hydropower talents.It has made an important contribution to the development of China’s hydropower industry,and nurtured the spirit of Geshui that can be called "Trekking,hard work,Xingshui to serve the country,self-improvement,and innovation".Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering Institute has become a history,but the Geshui spirit,as a part of the source of living water of the Qiusuo spirit of the Three Gorges University,will always inspire the whole school to forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude,and make greater contributions to the national hydropower personnel training and the development of hydropower construction.
