| Engineering contractors are the core of the construction industry,in the context of a relatively loose market regulatory environment,the social responsibility awareness of Chinese engineering contractors is relatively weak,their social responsibility practice activities are not abundant and the implementation degree is low.In the construction of engineering projects,all kinds of improper behaviors of social responsibility are frequently performed by engineering contractors,for example,the project quality is not qualified,the disturbing noises,high carbon emissions,safety incidents and so on.In order to explore the behavioral patterns and influence mechanisms of engineering contractors in fulfilling their social responsibility,further promote the engineering contractors to undertake social responsibilities and obligations,as well as complete the integration of economic entity with moral entity,this thesis conducts research on the influencing mechanism of engineering contractors’ social responsibilities and the promotion strategies related.In order to explore the influencing mechanism of engineering contractors’ social responsibilities,firstly this thesis combs the relevant literatures in the fields of the social responsibilities of corporates at home and abroad and the social responsibilities of engineering contractors.Secondly,combining the relevant theories as the stakeholder theory and industry characteristics to propose the framework of engineering contractors’ social responsibility behavior,through empirical research,the social responsibility behavior of engineering contractors is defined,which is divided into seven dimensions,including employee responsibility,shareholder responsibility,owner responsibility,partner responsibility,community responsibility,environmental responsibility and public responsibility,and the social responsibility practice case of the China Railway Engineering Corporation is used for lateral evidence.According to relevant literatures to further identify the influencing factors of engineering contractors’ social responsibilities and analyze the influencing mechanism of each factor,based on this,the author puts forward four hypotheses including economic,social,moral and institutional influences,the social responsibility information of engineering contractors was collected through questionnaires and the structural equation model was used to verify the influencing relation of engineering contractors’ social responsibilities.It is found that economic factors have a significant impact on the responsibility of shareholder,owner,partner,community,environment and the public;Social factors have a significant impact on the responsibility of shareholder,community and environment;Moral factors have a significant effect on all dimensions;Institutional factors have a significant impac on the responsibility of employee,owner and environment.In addition,the relationship between economic factors and employee responsibility is not clear;The relationship between social factors and employee responsibility is not clear,and the social factors exert negative influence on owner responsibility and partner responsibility which is contrary to the hypothesis;There is a negative relationship between institutional factors and shareholder responsibility,partner responsibility and social responsibility.Based on the empirical results and the social responsibility practice of engineering contractors,six principles and four concrete measures are put forward to provide ideas for engineering contractors to better fulfill their social responsibility. |
