With the rapid development of all aspects of society,the single external expansion community construction model is no longer applicable to the present.The development goal of the community has changed from meeting the basic living needs of a single object to "people-oriented and diversified participation".Facing the challenges and requirements of the new era,China clearly points out the importance of the concept of child friendliness in the transformation and design of public space in old communities.As an important material carrier of urban development process and residents’ emotional memory,the public space of old community has important social and spiritual value.At present,the old community public space is facing various problems caused by the intertwined decline and lack of material and function,which is far from the current requirements for the quality of community public space,and is the focus of the current community reconstruction work.However,adults are always the main consideration in the construction and transformation of public space in old communities.As a group that can not be ignored in the community residents and an important participant in the community public space,children have been neglected for a long time,and have become a "blind spot" in the transformation of the old community public space.Community public space is the area where children have the most frequent activities in the process of growing up,except school.It is an important place for children to know and identify themselves.It is also the first step for children to get out of the family and contact the society.Friendly community public space is the best "enlightenment school" for children,which plays a very important and positive role in the cultivation of children’s self-confidence,cultural belonging and social belonging.Therefore,the old community public space should pay attention to children’s needs,respect children’s basic social rights and interests,reasonably increase children’s supply resources,and provide children with a better community public space environment.Based on the above reasons,this paper discusses the design of children friendly public space in old communities.The focus is on how to meet the needs of children,attract children’s participation and have a positive impact in the function and form of the public space in the old community.At the same time,"teaching in fun" allows children to understand the humanities and history,get close to the natural environment and cultivate social consciousness in the process of activities.This paper adopts the research methods of literature research,case analysis at home and abroad,field research and so on,and summarizes and analyzes the relevant research results,basic concepts and relevant theories of children friendly community public space at home and abroad.On this basis,the behavioral and psychological needs of children of different ages are analyzed,and the design principles and Strategies of space are discussed and applied according to the needs of children.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research background and research methods,and puts forward the purpose and significance of the research and the research status at home and abroad.The second chapter defines the basic concepts and research scope of the research object,analyzes the relevant theories,and provides a theoretical basis for the following text.The third chapter is mainly composed of two parts.One is the specific analysis of children’s needs based on relevant theories and aiming at the physiological and psychological characteristics of children of different ages.Second,based on the analysis of children’s needs and the actual situation of public space in old communities,this paper discusses the design principles of space.The fourth chapter puts forward the design strategy of child friendly public space in old communities from three aspects: locality,hierarchy and diversity.Based on the design strategy,the design practice is carried out,and the specific design methods and design performance are displayed combined with my graduation project.Creating a better growth environment for children is the common responsibility of the whole society and an important standard to test the quality of the environment.As a designer,we should start from the perspective of children and provide children with a more positive environment conducive to growth through design.
