With the improvement of my country’s urbanization level,the traditional urban development model represented by "incremental expansion" is weak,and "stock renewal" has gradually become an important model for urban construction and development.The protection and renewal of historical and cultural blocks is an important part of the revitalization of urban stock.At present,problems such as the convergence of cultural characteristics,excessive commercialization,loss of authenticity,and decline of spatial vitality are commonly encountered.exploration.In recent years,more research in this field has focused on introducing interdisciplinary research methods such as morphology,sociology,and biology,further broadening the research perspective.This paper introduces the scene theory in the field of urban sociology,selects Suzhou Shantang historical and cultural block as the research object to study the current block space vitality,in order to improve the current situation and provide value for the protection and renewal of the historical and cultural block in the future.First of all,starting from the current research results on the spatial vitality of historical and cultural blocks at home and abroad,analyze the insufficiency,introduce new theories,clarify the driving logic of scene theory for the improvement of the spatial vitality of historical and cultural blocks,and point out the use of scene theory in the process of renewal and protection of historical and cultural blocks.For the feasibility and adaptability of space vitality enhancement,the theoretical guiding value of scene theory to the vitality enhancement of historical and cultural blocks is demonstrated.Secondly,based on the theoretical connotation and research system of the scene,it reinterprets the spatial vitality composition of historical and cultural blocks.Taking the five elements of blocks,facilities,crowds,activities and values as the criterion-level elements,sorting out the relevant literature selection factors,and constructing a historical and cultural block based on scene theory.A model for evaluating the vitality of cultural blocks.Finally,through the collection of multivariate data,with the help of software platforms such as Arc GIS,Depthmap,ROST CM6,the use of spatial syntax axis map analysis,line segment map analysis,kernel density analysis,grid calculation,network text analysis,field research,questionnaire survey,in-depth interviews,etc.A variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods are combined to evaluate and analyze the spatial vitality of Suzhou Shantang Historical and Cultural District,and propose that the Shantang Historical and Cultural District should first continue the tradition to enhance the spatial vitality:maintain the original spatial texture and continue the aboriginal lifestyle.;Improve living business formats for aboriginal people;preserve the historical crystallization of intangible cultural heritage;plan festivals and activities with local characteristics;at the same time,inherit and innovate: create interesting tourist routes in streets and alleys;Experience;build landmark buildings,visualize cultural attraction and other strategies in order to comprehensively enhance the spatial vitality of Shantang historical and cultural blocks.
