Around the 1920 s,the development of western learning to the east had a great impact and far-reaching impact on the traditional Chinese gardening system.Scholars of horticulture,forestry and architecture began to construct the modern Chinese gardening teaching system in this changing situation.Their cognition of modern gardening has gone through a process from shallow to deep,from the outside to the inside,characterized by "the construction of modern gardening teaching materials",which showed obvious initial characteristics in the Republic of China and produced fruitful teaching results.Looking at the research on the history of Chinese landscape architecture,at present,most of the researches are based on the subject education and related scholars,but no scholars have made a special discussion on the special research of teaching materials.Studying gardening textbooks in the Republic of China will help to make up for the lack of research on gardening textbooks,thus enriching the research on the history of Chinese landscape architecture.Taking "Republic of China" as the starting point is helpful to analyze the characteristics of modern Chinese landscape architecture from its origin,and it is of great value to re-examine the origin and construction of Chinese landscape architecture in today’s technological development.This research is mainly composed of three parts: the development of gardening teaching materials,the construction in agricultural and engineering colleges,and the classic case analysis.On the basis of collecting the construction achievements of "Garden Teaching Materials in the Republic of China",the text analysis method is used as the basic research method.Firstly,the development of gardening textbooks in the Republic of China is combed vertically in time.Based on the important educational policies and events in the Republic of China,combined with the development form,content and characteristics of the textbooks themselves,the characteristics of "multi-discipline" of gardening textbooks are analyzed.Secondly,focusing on the construction of gardening teaching materials in the disciplines of horticulture,forestry and architecture of agricultural colleges in the Republic of China,combining with the background of gardening curriculum,using the methods of knowledge archaeology and comparative research,this paper analyzes the characteristics of "multi-disciplinary" gardening teaching materials construction from the aspects of compiling scope,methods and ideas of teaching materials.Finally,with the methods of case analysis,knowledge archaeology and comparative research,the author makes a case analysis of Building Garden(Tong Yumin)in the pioneering horticulture discipline and Introduction to Architecture(Chen Zhi)in the exploratory forestry discipline.Combining with the author’s academic history,the author analyzes the background of the book,analyzes the compiling idea and its influence from the generation of the textbook knowledge system,and then summarizes the construction of the two gardening textbooks in different development stages and different disciplines.Through the above analysis,this study aims to focus on three main issues: "How to construct gardening textbooks in the Republic of China",what kind of "compilation and its ideas" were presented,and what aspects were influenced by them.By answering these three questions,it is intended to analyze the changes in the construction of gardening textbooks in the Republic of China and the potential reasons for the changes.The main achievements of this research are as follows: Firstly,the publication summary of gardening textbooks in the Republic of China was sorted out,and the gardening textbooks built under different disciplines were classified and summarized,so as to sort out the development context of gardening textbooks.Through the analysis of the results of the two development stages of "pioneering period" and "exploring period",it was found that the construction of gardening textbooks had the attribute of "multi-discipline".Secondly,it analyzes the construction of gardening textbooks in agricultural and engineering colleges,explores the academic orientation and characteristics of the construction of gardening textbooks in different disciplines,and summarizes the similarities and differences of the construction of gardening textbooks among the three disciplines.Finally,Tong Yumin’s Building Garden and Chen Zhi’s Introduction to Architecture are interpreted in detail.On the one hand,it explores the influence of different academic backgrounds on the compilation of gardening textbooks;On the other hand,it analyzes the gardening characteristics of the "grass-roots period" and the compilation and concept of the "comprehensive gardening" textbook in the "exploration period".From this,the historical enlightenment,significance,similarities and differences of the construction of gardening textbooks in two development stages and different disciplines are summarized.Based on the above research results,it has necessary practical significance to clarify the internal relationship between the theoretical exploration of modern gardening and the precipitation of knowledge to the construction of modern disciplines.
