Study On The Traditional Patterns Of Fenghuang Blue Calico In Western Hunan

This topic is mainly based on the revitalization of traditional crafts and the protection of intangible cultural heritage,taking the traditional patterns of Phoenix Blue Calico fabrics as the research object,exploring the historical and cultural roots and genes of Phoenix Blue Calico fabrics,and promoting their integration into contemporary people’s lives through inheritance and protection paths and innovative design.The "Blue Printing and Dyeing Skill" of Phoenix County was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists in June 2008.It is deeply influenced by the natural geographical environment,customs,and diverse cultures,especially the Wu Chu culture,making Phoenix Blue Printing and Dyeing Cloth present unique regional characteristics and profound cultural heritage.However,the author has collected relevant literature and books on blue printed fabrics at home and abroad,and found that there is a lack of research on exploring the emotional expression,cultural connotation,and creation concepts reflected behind the patterns;Innovation in the pattern of blue printed calico is mostly limited to application design,and relatively novel design methods have not been proposed;The research content on Xiangxi Phoenix Blue Calico has basically remained in the past decade.This topic is based on the author’s field investigation and on-site interviews on the Phoenix Blue Calico fabric in western Hunan.Combining the methods of literature research,comparative research,and image research,the author analyzes the overview,art,and connotation of the traditional patterns of Phoenix Blue Calico fabric,as well as the exploration of protection and inheritance paths,and innovative design practices.The specific content is as follows: First,an overall analysis of the historical development of Phoenix Blue Calico fabric is made from the distribution,production conditions,regional characteristics,constituent elements,and printing and dyeing processes of Phoenix Blue Calico fabric in Western Hunan.Secondly,from the perspective of motif content,modeling features,and composition rules,especially focusing on exploring emotional expression and comparing the similarities and differences between the traditional patterns of stepping on tigers and chiseling flowers in Luxi County,the Miao cross stitch,and the Phoenix Blue Calico,in-depth analysis of the traditional pattern art of Phoenix Blue Calico will be conducted.Thirdly,from the analysis of the current situation,the protection and inheritance methods,and future prospects,explore the survival path of the traditional patterns of Phoenix Blue Calico calico in western Hunan,and explore its innovative design with shape grammar,as well as its practice in cultural and creative design and children’s clothing design.Through the above exploration,it is found that the traditional patterns of Phoenix Blue Calico calico in western Hunan embody emotional expressions such as natural deities,family ethics,and the pursuit of utilitarianism,as well as cultural connotations such as national identity,spiritual beliefs,and life consciousness,as well as creation concepts such as ethics,ecology,morality,and aesthetics,which are important for building the sense of Chinese national community and enhancing the cultural confidence of the Chinese nationThe value of cultural education,at the same time,has great potential to transform into economic productivity in contemporary intangible cultural heritage promoting rural revitalization,cultural and tourism integration,digital development,cultural industrialization,and other aspects.In addition,through multiple derivation of shape grammar,the author has obtained the derivative design of the traditional pattern of Phoenix Blue Calico fabric,its cultural and creative design applications,and children’s clothing design achievements.In practice,the traditional pattern activation design of Phoenix Blue Calico fabric has been achieved.
