With the increasing demand for mass tourism,the conflict between humans and the environment has been intensifying.While pursuing tourism experiences,tourists are putting tremendous pressure on the environment of tourist destinations.Tourists’ environmentally responsible behavior is regarded as an effective means to alleviate the phenomenon,which has been widely concerned and studied.This study takes Huangshan Scenic spot as the case to build a mechanism model of tourists’ environmental responsibility behavior,hoping to provide reference for scenic managers to promote tourists to form and strengthen environmental responsibility behavior,and provide practical guidance for the sustainable development of scenic spots and tourism.Firstly,the study constructed a theoretical model and proposed a hypothesis by analyzing relevant literature.Structured questionnaires were distributed online and offline simultaneously to collect data,and structural equation model was used to analyze the data,focusing on testing the effects of tourist-environment fit,place attachment and empathy with nature on environmentally responsible behavior.The results show that:(1)Tourist-environment fit has a significant direct impact on environmentally responsible behavior;(2)Tourist-environment fit has a positive impact on place attachment,and place attachment has a positive impact on environmentally responsible behavior,and place attachment has an mediating impact between tourist-environment fit and environmentally responsible behavior;(3)Tourist-environment fit has a positive impact on empathy with nature,and the empathy with nature has a positive impact on environmentally responsible behavior.Empathy with nature has a mediating impact between tourist-environment fit and environmentally responsible behavior;(4)Place attachment and the empathy with nature play a chain mediating role between tourist-environment fit and environmentally responsible behavior.Secondly,the study draws its conclusions and provides management insights through analysis.The conclusions mainly include the following four points:(1)Tourist-environment fit is the key antecedent of environmentally responsible behavior;(2)Place attachment plays an important mediating role between tourist-environment fit and environmentally responsible behavior;(3)The empathy with nature plays an important mediating role between tourist-environment fit and environmentally responsible behavior;(4)Tourist-environment fit can indirectly affect the empathy with nature through place attachment,and ultimately affect environmentally responsible behavior.Therefore,in the process of future tourism destination management,the following three aspects can be adopted to promote the formation of tourists’ environmentally responsible behavior and realize the sustainable development of scenic and tourism:(1)Improve the interaction space and improve the degree of compatibility;(2)Stimulate the sense of "belonging" and strengthen the place attachment;(3)Inducing the empathy with nature and strengthening emotional connection.Finally,this study identifies its limitations and outlines potential areas for future research.
