As a fundamental and comprehensive tertiary industry, the logistics industry has developed rapidly in recent years, and China’s total social logistics volume also ranks among the top in the world. At the same time,China’s logistics industry has maintained an extensive and inefficient growth model for a long time, and has become one of the industries with the fastest growth in carbon emissions. As an important region for economic development in northern China, the Yellow River Basin has become an important way to achieve ecological protection and highquality development by improving the efficiency of the logistics industry to achieve carbon reduction and emission reduction.Measuring the efficiency of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin, identifying the core factors that affect the efficiency of the logistics industry, and finding ways to improve the efficiency of the logistics industry have important practical significance for promoting the healthy and high-quality development of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin.Based on a literature review of the measurement of logistics industry efficiency and factors affecting logistics industry efficiency, this article constructs an "input output" indicator system for the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin from the perspective of "dual carbon",and uses the super efficiency SBM model and Malmquist index model to calculate the efficiency of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin.Based on the measurement results, the efficiency level, spatiotemporal characteristics, and evolution trend of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin are analyzed;Based on the overall perspective and configuration thinking, using the fs QCA method, taking the total factor productivity of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin as the outcome variable and influencing factors as the conditional variable, this paper explores the multiple ways to improve the efficiency of the high-level logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin. The research findings are as follows:(1)The efficiency of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin is generally on the rise, but the development is uneven among regions. The downstream region has the best development, with an average efficiency value of 1.165,followed by the upstream region and the worst in the midstream region. However, according to dynamic analysis data, the growth rate in the middle reaches is the fastest, with an annual growth rate of 11%,followed by downstream performance and the worst in the upstream. The main factor driving the fluctuation of total factor productivity has shifted from technical efficiency to technological progress, indicating that the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin is moving towards high-quality development;(2)The efficiency of the logistics industry in the Yellow River is affected by multiple conditional variables, and each single conditional variable is not sufficient to become a necessary condition for high-level logistics industry efficiency.High-level logistics industry efficiency is the result of a combination of changes and joint actions of multiple conditions.According to the solution results, five configuration paths are obtained.Through horizontal analysis of the conditional variables in the paths,it is found that economic level plays an important role in promoting the efficiency of the high-level logistics industry, while environmental regulations currently hinder the improvement of the efficiency of the logistics industry in the Yellow River Basin;(3)The five configuration paths are analyzed vertically, and the core factors of each path are different.Based on the actual situation, four upgrading paths are summarized, namely, economic openness path, technological industry path, government intervention path, and non environmental regulation path. Moreover, there is a substitution relationship among the three variables of government support, industrial agglomeration, and openness, which can play a path substitution role in a developed economy. Finally, based on the four improvement paths, targeted development suggestions are proposed to provide reference for 9 provinces in the Yellow River Basin to improve the efficiency of the logistics industry according to local conditions.
