| The good ecology and stable development of the big river basin play an important role in supporting the development of the country’s ecological civilization. At present, the green development and social welfare improvement of China’s large river basins have become an important way for the construction of national and regional ecological civilization.Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yellow River Basin,as major national strategic regions in China, have a significant strategic position in the new pattern of modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. In the context of the continuous deepening of high-quality development in the new era,"ecological priority and green development" has become the principle and concept of high-quality development in China’s large river basins in the new era.The past economic growth mode at the expense of the environment needs to be changed.Yellow River Basin should focus on strengthening ecological protection and governance, promoting high-quality development of the whole basin, improving people’s lives, and making Yellow River a happy river for the benefit of the people. It can be seen that accelerating the improvement of the ecological welfare performance of large river basins has become a major theoretical and practical problem of China’s regional high-quality development in the new era. However, there are significant spatial heterogeneity in resource consumption, pollution discharge, livelihood security, quality of life and other aspects in the large river basin, which brings severe challenges to the coordinated improvement of ecological welfare performance.Based on this background, this paper deeply grasps the scientific connotation of green development in large river basins, examines the temporal and spatial pattern and evolution trend of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins, and deeply reveals its development law, providing support for exploring the coordinated improvement path of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins. The research contents of this paper mainly include the following five aspects: First, based on the scientific connotation of ecological welfare performance, the non radial and non angle Super-SBM model is used to evaluate the ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basins;Secondly, the spatial pattern of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins is comprehensively depicted from the aspects of spatial distribution, sources of differences, etc;Thirdly, the temporal and spatial evolution law of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins is deeply revealed from the aspects of dynamic evolution of distribution and long-term prediction trend; Then,it explains the selection of influencing factors of ecological welfare performance, and analyzes the internal and external factors that affect the ecological welfare performance of the river basin by using the methods of geographical probe, inefficiency decomposition, quantile regression, etc; Finally,it explores the path to improve the ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basins according to local conditions and puts forward corresponding policy recommendations. The research results show that:(1)the ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basins has shown a rising trend year by year, indicating that the green development and people’s livelihood development of China’s large river basins have a good momentum in recent years. The rising trend of ecological welfare performance in Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yellow River Basin is more consistent with the overall situation, showing a steady increase year by year.(2)The ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basins has a significant spatial imbalance, which is shown by the fact that the overall level of ecological welfare performance of Yangtze River Economic Belt is lower than that of Yellow River Basin. In recent years, the spatial difference of the overall ecological welfare performance in the Great River Basin has shown a significant downward trend. The regional difference in the ecological welfare performance of Yellow River Basin is higher than that of Yangtze River Economic Belt. The difference between the lower reaches of Yellow River Basin and the middle and upper reaches of Yellow River Basin is relatively large, and the difference between regions shows a downward trend during the sample period. The main source of the spatial difference of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins is the regional difference, and the hypervariable density and regional difference have the largest contribution to the spatial difference of ecological welfare performance in each region.(3)The ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basins and regions is on the rise and the dynamic evolution characteristics are relatively consistent.Among them, the distribution of the core density of ecological welfare performance in the whole and all regions shows a trend of moving to the right, the peak value of the main peak decreases, the width expands, and there is a right tailing phenomenon. The ecological welfare performance of China’s large rive as a whole and Yangtze River Economic Belt is polarized, while that of Yellow River Basin is multipolar. There is a phenomenon of "club convergence" in the ecological welfare performance of China’s large river basin and Yangtze River Economic Belt, while cities with lower ecological welfare performance in Yellow River Basin have a strong upward shift trend.(4)Endogenous factors such as exhaust gas emissions, public transport, health care and cultural development have a greater driving role in the differences of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins and regions, and water resource consumption and wastewater emissions have a greater impact on the differences of ecological welfare performance in Yellow River Basin. The external factors such as industrial structure and environmental regulation have a greater impact on the difference of ecological welfare performance in Yangtze River Economic Belt, while the external factors in Yellow River Basin are less obvious. The endogenous factors related to ecological input have a greater impact on the improvement of ecological welfare performance in China’s large river basins and regions. The upgrading of industrial structure, investment in science and technology, innovation ability and other external factors have significantly promoted the ecological welfare performance of Yangtze River Economic Belt, while the main foreign aid driving force of the ecological welfare performance of Yellow River Basin is the upgrading of industrial structure. |
