Evaluating Green Rural Living And Resident Participation At District And County Scales In Jingzhou City

With the rapid economic development and the substantial improvement in the living standards,the ecological environment problems in rural areas are becoming increasingly serious.Green rural living is a sustainable development concept characterized by eco-friendliness,coordination and fairness.Adapting green rural living is not only necessary to satisfy rural residents’ yearning for a better life,but also an important measure of promoting the connection relationship between Rural Revitalization and Ecological Civilization Construction.This study,which takes Jingzhou City of Hubei Province as the object,conducts green rural living promotion research of two parts.Firstly,a qualitative analysis of the current situation of green rural living promotion in Jingzhou City is carried out.On the basis of identifying the needs and obstacles,a comprehensive evaluation index system for green rural living standards at the district and county scales is constructed based on the DPSIR framework,which includes 23 evaluation indicators.Combined with statistical data,an empirical study is carried out using the EWM-TOPSIS model then.Secondly,with the classifications of green rural living patterns,this study further investigates the willingness of rural residents at the micro level,and uses the binary Logit model to clarify the influencing factors of Jingzhou rural resident participation in green rural living.The main conclusions obtained are as follows: 1)The comprehensive evaluation results of green rural living standards in 8 counties in Jingzhou City based on the DPSIR framework and EWM-TOPSIS model show that the green rural living standards of Songzi City,Honghu City and Jiangling County are relatively low,while Shishou City,Gongan County,Jingzhou District and Jianli County have average green living standards,only Shashi District presents higher standard.The evaluation results of the DPSIR subsystem shows the classifications of green rural living patterns.The results show that Jingzhou District,Shashi District and Jiangling District belong to the factorconstrained areas on green rural living promotion.Gongan County and Shishou City are cognitive-awakening areas.Songzi City,Jianli County and Honghu City are transformation-promoting regions.2)The results of the questionnaire survey on rural resident participation in green rural living show that domestic sewage treatment,adoption of clean energy and agricultural waste disposal are the main obstacles.The results of factor analysis and Logit model regression show that influencing factors of the willingness to participate in green rural living promotion include four dimensions.Among them,the cultural background is a significant positive promotion to the willingness,and the habitual behavior is a significant obstacle.The comprehensive analysis shows that Jingzhou has not yet formed a green rural living atmosphere.The external opportunity also shows the induced effect on green rural living promotion willingness,but the effect direction of environmental cognition is not observed,indicating that there is a gap between the effect of Jingzhou’s green rural living promotion policy and the environmental cognition of rural residents.Based on the above conclusions,this study puts forward measures to promote green rural living in Jingzhou in order to provide useful reference on rural revitalization demonstration area building,which mainly include 1)Targeted implementation.2)Improved support system,such as poverty prevention,system and mechanism innovation and revenue sharing.3)Improve the integrity and openness of green rural living promotion.
