Research On The Influence Of Scientific And Technological Innovation On Marine Industry Agglomeration

The role of marine technological innovation in the development of the marine industry is becoming increasingly important.This article explores the impact of marine technological innovation on the agglomeration of the marine industry from both theoretical and empirical perspectives.In terms of theory,this article analyzes the impact of technological innovation on the agglomeration of marine industries using Industrial Agglomeration Theory and Industrial Innovation Theory.On the one hand,technological innovation can promote the improvement of the quantity and quality of regional knowledge spillovers,enhance the application of technological factors in the marine industry,reduce the proportion of traditional factors such as capital,human resources,and natural resources in the marine industry,reduce enterprise costs,and promote the development of marine emerging industries,Promote the upgrading of the marine industry,thereby enhancing the cohesion of marine industry enterprises within the region;On the other hand,marine technology innovation can enhance the environmental carrying capacity of a region,reduce the dispersion of enterprise relocation by reducing the constraints of environmental carrying capacity on marine industry agglomeration,and thus promote marine industry agglomeration.In terms of empirical analysis,based on the provincial panel data of coastal provinces in China from 2006 to 2019,this paper uses the entropy method to measure the level of marine scientific and technological innovation development,and then measures the location entropy of marine industry clusters in various regions.Then,it introduces seven control variables,namely,marine resource endowment,potential market,human capital,fixed assets investment and openness,regional economic development level,and government competition,Finally,a fixed effects model is used to examine the impact of marine technological innovation on the agglomeration of marine industries.Based on the above analysis,the conclusion of this article is as follows:(1)In 2019,the level of marine scientific and technological innovation in various coastal provinces(cities,autonomous regions)in China has improved to varying degrees compared to 2006.(2)There are significant differences in the level of marine industry agglomeration in various coastal regions of China,with Tianjin,Hainan,Shanghai,and Fujian maintaining a relatively high level of marine industry agglomeration.(3)The improvement of marine technology innovation can promote the level of marine industry agglomeration.
