A Study Of Social Conflict Reporting Discourse In People's Daily

At present,our country is in the transitional period of social development.The social structure is transforming from a planned economy to a socialist market economy.The social resources caused by the transition can not meet the needs of social members and the resources are unevenly distributed.They all lead to frequent social conflicts and eventually to social conflicts.Under this background,the government's management of social conflicts is imminent,and the media,as the connection point between the government and the masses,bears the heavy responsibility of guiding public opinion and promoting the work of the government.Therefore,how the media connects the government and the masses through social conflict reports and alleviates social conflicts is the focus of social attention.This study takes the social conflict issue of People's Daily as the research object,guided by the Marxist journalism view,and using Felkraft's critical discourse analysis method for reference,discusses the social conflict issue of People's Daily from three aspects: discourse text,discourse practice and social practice.The research questions include:(1)What kind of social conflict issues does People's Daily construct?(2)How does People's Daily construct the issue of social conflict?(3)What interaction exists between the process of constructing social conflict reports in People's Daily and society,government and market?(4)What kind of social environment does People's Daily want to build through the issue of social conflict?The study finds that People's Daily actively practices the unity of Party spirit and people nature emphasized in Marxist journalism,responds positively to people's concerns,effectively guides public opinion and maintains social stability.Specifically,People's Daily often highlights the popularity and party spirit of news and propaganda work through the text itself of social conflict issues and the intertextuality and reporting mode of social conflict issues.People's Daily stands on the position of the people and the Party,fully demonstrating the wishes and views of the people.Compared with the analysis of the conflict itself,the People's Daily reports tend to analyze the system,management and other problems behind the social conflict,playing a role of public opinion supervision of government work.By actively practicing the positive propaganda as the main way emphasized by Marxist journalism,we can realize the construction of social reality.The social reality constructed is that "there is no manic and restless social environment,social conflicts can be solved,the solution is to improve the system,and the government has been committed to the improvement of the system." Intertextuality exists in the process of discourse production.As an organ newspaper of the Party,People's Daily often quotes authoritative texts such as legal texts when it reports on social conflicts.In terms of the reporting mode,People's Daily usually chooses direct quotations and more quotations from government officials to express the authority and accuracy of the report.The process of discourse consumption and interpretation includes story telling,rational platform building,media alliance and story expanding.In this process,there exists interaction among society,market,government and media.This interaction means that the mass uses the media to fulfill their own demands,while the media uses its own construction function to guide public opinion;while the market promotes the transformation and development of the media,the media helps.At the same time,the media also set up the most effective and reasonable dialogue platform between the government and the masses to promote the improvement of the system and social development.At the same time,the three dimensions of discourse text,discourse practice and social practice all serve for certain social reality construction: discourse text pays attention to what kind of social reality is constructed;discourse practice pays attention to the process of social reality construction;and social practice pays attention to the influencing factors of social reality construction.
