As an American media theorist,Poster is well known to the public through his famous Information Mode and The Second Media Age,but his other works ought not to be neglected and have great value to research. This article's constitution is based on the interpretation and explanation of Poster's more works. The full text embraces the following five aspects chiefly:"Introduction" mainly expounds the origin of this topic, the research actuality of Poster's media theory about domestic and oversea, and the study value and research means of this article. The first chapter mainly analyses the subsistent foundation and academic source of Poster's media theory. The realistic basis mainly analyzes the development of media culture in Poster's era.The theoretical origin is mainly discussed from the influence of Marx,Foucault and Baudrillard on Poster.First of all,it is about Marx's influence,Poster stripped out a certain relationship between Marx's labor concept and information: from labor alienation to information alienation.Followed by Foucault.Poster's understanding and interpretation of Foucault's terms such as "words" and "power" formed his critical thinking on database. Finally, about Jean Baudrillard.Poster not only understands the disintegration of modern society and modern subject by electronic media from Baudrillard's related exposition of media culture, but also explores the phenomenon of media communication in the form of information from Baudrillard's relevant theoretical viewpoints on TV advertising and symbol exchange theory. The second chapter introduces Poster's “Pure” media theory mainly, focusing on Poster's various views on media in the second media era.Poster pointed out that it is necessary to explain the media terms "machinery","information machine" and "technology".Poster also pointed out that the reality copied by western technology has the characteristics of virtual reality.Poster also discussed that every medium can be regarded as a symbolic language. On media control's discussion, based on Foucault's theory of "panoramic prison",Poster pointed out that the "monitoring system" for media control is "super panoramic prison" specifically.Such a prison system can not only control cultural exchanges, but also exert various influences on political institutions between countries and national political strategies. The third chapter discusses the thinking about human being in Poster's media theory.First of all,he analyzed how the subject was constructed in the way of information.Poster believed that the information machine on the Internet has brought different communication methods from the previous media such as TV and movies, that is,"decentralized two-way communication".Then Poster divided into three situations to explain the condition that the subject is constructed.Secondly,he analyzed the difference between the subject writing in print media and computer media. Finally,he explained that there is a kind of democracy in the Internet space, and thought that the Internet,a digital public domain, has more democratic advantages than Habermas' s so-called public domain. He also believes that the virtual community, the representative of the public domain formed by the Internet, has brought various influences to the subject. The fourth chapter introduces the easily overlooked but valuable content in Poster's media theory mainly: literary thoughts. He discussed the relationship between media and literature and art from three aspects:the spread, creation and acceptance of literature and art. With regard to the dissemination of literature and art by the media,Poster thought that the media in different times will exert various influences on the works in the process of spreading literary and artistic works, which are reflected in the scope and efficiency of dissemination. As for the influence of media on literary and artistic creation,Poster talked about the influence of media in different times on the author's creative habits and ways mainly. On the issue of media and readers' acceptance,Poster explained that the recipients of literary and artistic works are affected differently under different media. This is not only due to the change of the audience's acceptance environment and the change of the positional relationship between the audience and literary works, but also due to the difference of the audience's acceptance methods under different media conditions.
