On Poster And Media Poetics

Contemporary society is a media society which is covered by electronic media. With its strong integration capabilities, media creates a radiation media field in all disciplines, which brings some attributes of media discourse and media awareness to post-modern philosophy, aesthetics and poetics. Thereby media theory has become an indispensable theory to study contemporary culture. As the representative of critical theory of contemporary Western culture, Mark Poster, who is a bellwether paying attention to the new media, has proposed some core ideas about media such as "The Mode of Information ", " The Second Media Age " and so on which form the indispensable theory of media culture. By systematically combing Poster's medium theory in the paper, the forming process of Poster's media poetics could be shown, basing on which Poster's media poetics value and significance of humanities will be revealed. This paper is comprised of three parts including introduction, body and conclusion, among which the body is divided into three part parts.Introduction This part is to summarize the concepts of media poetics and Poster's media ideas as well as the current research situation both at home and abroad, based on which the marriage of poetry with media will be cited through analyzing the resources of academic thoughts of Poster, by which explains the object, the scope and significance of research in this paper.One Firstly it is Poster's key media thoughts, then show the rudiment of Poster's media poetics. It mainly involves a few key concepts of Poster's media poetics. It will be summarized as "one center and two basic points". "one center" means the main structure, that is the core issue throughout Poster's media poetics. "Two basic points" means the theory of the mode of information and the second media age.Two With the reference to western post-modern media theory, bring Poster into the specific contexts of western culture to do the specific research. This chapter focuses on the individual discussions by associating of Poster with the Frankfurt School, Foucault, Baudrillard Jean and other typical post-modernist theorists. In the context of comparative horizon, it could stand out Poster's media poetic traits.Three This part is mainly about the discussion of the contemporary social and cultural significance of Poster's media poetics including the media technology to human nature trend, media alienation and media power and other issues. Moreover, emphasis will be put on the discussion of humanist direction of media poetics, particularly after the second media age's arrival, how the literature faces the attack of the media. On this basis, the element which could provide a reference is fully revealed so as to expand the current study on literary theory, and show the significance it deserves.Conclusion We could not just simply consider the media as a carrier which transmits the information, we also should subtract the organon meaning of media interpretation. To a large extent, media's own characteristics have turn out fundamental changes, that is, human culture recombinant, the way of discourse, thinking and perception. Media poetics has become a dimension of contemporary literary theory; meanwhile, media poetics also has become a new form which constructs the contemporary aesthetic theory.
