Since the eighties of last century, the publications of the Canadian Schools of Toronto and the New York Schools have been published from two major schools of Media ecology in North America. The media theory of media ecology is receiving more and more attention, especially in the rapid development of media. The birth of the Internet in the 1990s brought a subversive revolution to various media. It is clear that the role of the media in daily life of human beings became more and more prominent. Therefore, the study of the thinking of media scholars in the media ecology school has also become an important research issue. However, the study of the Media ecology school in our country started relatively late, until 2006,with the effort of He Daokuan,Li Mingwei,Ding Wei at Shenzhen University,Chen Shimin at National Chengchi University and Casey Man Kong Lum at William Patterson University and others, the "Media ecology School "is the name officially opened. In fact, the media ecology school was named "Media ecology" in 1968.The pioneer was McLuhan, and the official user was Neil Postman who set up first media ecology specialty and doctoral program at New York University. In the beginning,it was literally translated as "Media Environment" in our country. From this we can see that the domestic research on this school also took more than ten years. At present, the overall research situation is that the research is not deep enough, the research scope is not extensive, and the research results are few.Hence, the research task of this school is very urgent.Joshua Meyrowitz, the second-generation representative of the New York school, taught by Neil Postman and published in 1985 his most important book,No Sense of Place:The Impact of Electronic Media on Social Behavior, which Inspired by the"Media bias" of Innis and the "Global village" of McLuhan who are representatives of the Toronto School and borrowed from "drama theory" by the American sociologist Erving Goffman, mainly examines the various influences on the human behavior of television which is a kind of electronic media that originated in the United States at that time. This book won the 1986" Best Electronic Media Award "by the American National Institute of Radio Educators and Scholars, and Joshua Meyrowitz also laid the foundation for his subsequent academic career because of "Situation theory of media."In the era of increasingly changing media,Meyrowitz constantly revised his own media theory. Most representlyMeyrowitz made three media metaphors for media functions which is media as a container, grammar, and environment which also further expanding the field of media research. After borrowing Paul Levinson 's concept of 'new new media' as a dividing line for contemporary media, this paper studies further on Meyrowitz's media thinking and re-excavates the essence of Meyrowitz' Technical humanism ".Combined with the current background, this article researches Meyrowitz's media theory of media, analyzes the applicability of his media theory, demonstrates his theoretical value and difficultiesand uses his theoretical perspectives for understanding current media society in order to achieve the objective and rational research on Meyrowitz's media thinking in the new era of New new media, but also contribute to the theoretical study of the domestic Media ecology school.
