The Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang is a world cultural heritage site and a key national institution for the conservation of cultural relics integrating with fragility and preciousness.Since the Mogao Grottoes was opened to the public in 1979,the growth of tourists shows the characteristics of rapid trend,obvious seasonal difference and unbalanced time distribution.During the peak season,the caves are often overcrowded and tourists queue up in long line,resulting in poor visiting experience.Excessive visitor numbers and concentrated tourist flows also affect the relatively stable micro-environment in the caves and pose a serious threat to the conservation of the wall-paintings,which are already seriously weakened and suffer from many forms of damage.In order to alleviate the contradiction between the conservation and the opening of the Mogao Grottoes,this paper,combining the author ' s practical working experience in the Mogao Grottoes and his postgraduate study,proposes the establishment of time-sharing reservation system to solve the above-mentioned key problems in the opening of the Mogao Grottoes,by choosing the reasonable technical route to carry out the design and research of time-sharing reservation system in the Mogao Grottoes.The time-sharing reservation system of Mogao Grottoes was gradually established and improved with the implementation of the project,and all the contents of this study were formed by refining and summarizing.Firstly,this paper describes the background and significance of the system construction,the system 's present situation at home and abroad,the necessity and feasibility,the design ideas and the organizational structure.The visiting process,the carrying capacity of tourists,the system status and the users ' demands of Mogao Grottoes are deeply analyzed through the current situation investigation and the overall business processes.The overall planning requirements for forming time-sharing reservation system and the software and hardware configuration requirements for system operation are summarized.Based on the demand analysis,the analysis and design of the system's overall architecture,the functional structure and the database are completed,and then achieved the functional modules of the system.Finally,the system test strategy is developed to evaluate and verify the implementation effect of the system to ensure that the system can meet the design requirements.The time-sharing reservation system designed in this paper,through the measures of limiting the overall number of tourists who enter the caves,making reservation online and separating groups by intervals,focuses on solving the problems of the poor visit experiences and the great pressure for cultural relic conservation caused by uneven distribution of tourists in the Mogao Grottoes.Meanwhile,through the reservation process,it enhances the initiative of tourist management of the Mogao Grottoes,and achieves the purpose of the scientific supply,effective dispersion,optimized management and the quality improvement,that provides a reference model of establishing the time-sharing reservation system for other cultural heritage sites in China and also provides a new path for the effective conservation and sustainable use of the cultural relics.
