With the improvement of the popularity of the Internet, the participation of network information in people's life is deepening day by day.At the same time, scholars have become increasingly aware of the importance of affect in users' web searches. So what emotions do college students have when they use the Internet to search for academic information? How do emotions change? What are the causes of these emotions? It is helpful to reduce users' negative emotions in the process of searching academic information from the perspective of system design and information literacy cultivation, guide them to generate positive emotions,so as to improve the search efficiency and optimize the search experience.Based on the above questions, this study took college students as the research object to explore their emotional changes and causes in the process of searching online academic information.Firstly, this paper systematically combed and analyzed the domestic and foreign literature from three aspects:the basic theory of emotion, the classical theory of emotion factors into the behavioral model of information search, and the research on the emotion in the user's network information search.Through the review,it is found that the retrieval system is mainly used by users to complete the task of academic retrieval through interactive information retrieval, which is in essence a process of highly cognitive processing and problem solving. As an important dimension of search behavior, emotion plays an important role in retrieval. However, different emotions of users in the process of searching academic information are affected by the type of search task and user. However, there is a lack of researches to analyze and mine the types and changes of users'emotion in the process of searching academic network information from a holistic perspective.Secondly, this study used experimental method, thinking aloud method and questionnaire survey to obtain the emotional data of experimental users in the process of online academic search. In this experiment, two sets of search tasks were designed, namely, factual search task and thematic search task.Among them, each group of tasks includes two subtasks with different degrees of difficulty.Eighty subjects were randomly recruited to participate in the experiment in nanjing agricultural university, and 75 valid data were finally obtained.According to the search experience of the subjects, they were divided into two types:novice users(forty)and expert users(thirty-five).According to the experimental design, the acquired data were converted and sorted out. Finally, there are two thousand two hundred and thirty-one emotional words were identified, including one thousand and twenty-two positive words, one thousand one hundred and fifty-three negative words and fifty-six neutral words.Thirdly, statistical analysis was performed on the distribution and variation trend of the emotions in three sub-stages of the four search tasks. The findings:first, among task types, users generated more emotions in the thematic search task than in the factual search task, but more positive emotions than negative emotions in the factual search task(positive:negative?3:1),and more negative emotions than positive emotions in the thematic search task(positive:negative=1:2).Second,in the factual search task. The number of positive emotions of users is the highest in the demand generation stage, while the number of negative emotions increases first and then decreases, and is the highest in the search stage. In the thematic search task, the positive emotion of the user is less than the negative emotion in the three stages of the search, and the number of positive emotion is the least in the demand generation stage, while the negative emotion increases first and then decreases, and is the most in the search stage.Fourth, with the help of the open coding and spindle coding methods in grounded theory, the identified emotional terms were encoded, and the causes of the emotion in the search process were summarized. The results show that the source distribution of users'emotion in each stage of search is inconsistent. In the stage of demand generation, emotion is mainly related to task, database system and self-efficacy.In the stage of search execution, search results(the number of results and the content of results)are the main reasons for the change of users' emotion, and the emotion is related to search strategy,self-efficacy and database system. In the stage of resource selection, user emotion is related to three cognitive dimensions:information resource, database system and self-efficacy.Fifthly,the author analyzed and compared the two types of users' search satisfaction and their emotional differences in each search task. The research finds that:firstly, the search process satisfaction and result satisfaction of expert users are higher than that of novice users in each search task, and there are significant differences in search task 2.Secondly,the difference of emotion in user type results showed that:in the factual search task, the emotion of the two types of users showed significant difference in the search stage and the resource selection stage, but not significant difference in each stage of the thematic search task. Finally, based on the research results, some suggestions are put forward to improve the search efficiency and optimize the search emotional experience. In terms of system design,we should optimize the design from the aspects of information resource content and organization, navigation function and interface in the future. In terms of user information literacy:courses should be conducted according to the level of user search skills and the type of academic search task.
