Based on existing researches,this thesis explores information encountering behavior in the academic users' online information seeking from different dimensions,and analyzes the correlation between academic information encountering behavior and two psychological characteristics as personality traits and cognitive style so asto reveal the psychological factors of academic information encountering behavior,besides,this thesis proposes some suggestions with regard toenhancing the frequency and controlling the process of academic information encountering,helping to guide academic users to improve their own creativity with rational use of information encountering behavior.Based on field investigation,the quantitative and qualitative methods as experimentation,interview and questionnaire have been employed to do the research.Several results and conclusion can be shown as follows:?Measurement frame of information encountering is constructed,which consists of frequency,characteristic of encounteredinformation,characteristic of each behavior in each phase of the process,and feelings after encountering experience.?Differences of information encountering behavior among users with different individual background characteristics are verified.?Through statistical analysis,significant correlations between academic information encountering behavior and some dimensions of personality traits are verified.?Significant correlations between academic information encountering behavior and cognitive style are verified as well.?The regulation mechanism of information encounteringbehavior has been further explained.
