With the advancement of science and technology,the security radar is becoming more and more popular in our daily life.For one thing,many sites such as vast border defenses,oil fields,docks,and confidential units need a small “sentinel” which is not tired and errorfree to replace personnel to monitor security.For another thing,the security radars are still needed to detect the low-altitude and slow-speed small targets under the complex urban background.The radar with two-phase encoding which is pulse-based and frequency-sweep is more suitable for security detection due to its low cost and greater detection capabilities.Therefore,in the thesis,a small security radar is designed and implemented.Starting from the research background,the design of the radar scheme,the principle and simulation of signal processing algorithms and signal processing are introduced respectively.And then the implementation of the radar,and the hardware and actual detection performance of the radar are tested and analyzed.Firstly,according to the research requirements and characteristics of security radars,the design of the radar scheme is analyzed.The radar scheme includes the selection of the transmission waveform,the analysis of the radar performance,the design of the analog-todigital converter,and the introduction of the radar unit.The radar uses a two-phase code as the transmitting waveform,and uses the frequency-sweep for azimuth scanning.Secondly,the basic algorithms of radar signal processing such as digital downconversion,pulse compression,moving target detection,constant false alarm detection and clustering are analyzed in principle and simulated on MATLAB based on radar parameters.Thirdly,the realization of signal processing on the hardware acceleration platform is introduced.The radar selects the Zynq series chip of Xilinx company for signal processing.According to the characteristics of the selected chip,the clock domain is divided and the overall design planning is carried out.Then signal processing modules such as radio frequency control,digital down conversion and pulse compression are implemented on the FPGA.At the same time,the DMA communication and the UDP communication are realized.Finally,the radar tests are described and analyzed in detail.The test results of antenna,radio frequency module and analog-to-digital converter are given.The detection results of the whole radar machine in different environments are discussed.Then error analyses of the detection results are carried out based on the actual flight information of the UAV.The radar successfully detected the UAV in the complex urban environment,and the actual detection distance of the UAV in the open environment reached around 3km.
