Nowadays, the application of Electronic Support Measure(ESM) receivers, Radar Warning Receivers(RWR) and especially ARM forms a serious menace to radar's existence and the Low Probability of Interception(LPI) radar just appears under this circumstance. LPI radar attempts to use various techniques to make radar signal not be intercepted by intercept receivers.At first the article introduces the background and the development of LPI radar. Then the article begins with the basic concept of LPI radar, analyzes the interception probability formula of LPI radar and discusses every radar parameter and every radar system's influence on radar's LPI performance and all the techniques of LPI radar. Then the article summarizes these techniques and brings forward the basic request of LPI radar.Considering the significance of the choice of radar signals to radar's performance, the article discusses several typical signals of LPI radar, which includes phase coded signal, linear frequency modulation signal (LFM), chaos signal, random signal and random pulse position signal etc. In the end, the article discusses and compares these signals and summarizes their advantages and disadvantages.
