Phase coded radar signal has large time-bandwidth product characteristic, thusit has a good anti-interference performance and low probability of intercept.However, phase coded signal owns compressed high sidelobe and Dopplersensitivity issues.This paper studies the complementary code application in radar signal processing;the concept of complementary codes, the ambiguity function and autocorrelationfunction are presented and elaborated the structure of complementary code and itsextension methods with the formula derivation. Compared to other phase-encodingsignals, complementary codes have good autocorrelation properties, can realizezero sidelobe theoretically.The simulation method of complementary transmitting and receiving waves isanalyzed and focusing on transmitting complementary codes based on moving targetdetection (MTD). The method is mainly about conduct MTD and do phase correctionon original code and its complementary code in two separate steps, pulsecompression and superposition (sidelobe suppression). This method could effectivelycompensate the phase difference because of the different transmitting time; keep thesidelobe complementary characteristics of the original code and its complementarycode after pulse compression. Take a bi-phase complementary code as an example tosimulate and analyze, and get the low sidelobe pulse compression result. And basedon the applied frequent problems like, using interpolation method to acquire therange gravity center to improve the range resolution.
